Voodoo5 5000

Voodoo5_5000

At Comdex/Fall '99, 3dfx announced its new VSA-100 chip, on the basis of which a whole line of video cards will be built. 3dfx, having announced the VSA-100, gave birth to a new technology - Voodoo Scalable Architecture. The abbreviated name of the technology gave the name to the first chip based on it - VSA-100. The essence of the technology is that based on these processors it is possible to build multi-chip solutions, up to 32 or more. Many people remember the SLI technology used in 3dfx Voodoo2 boards, when the work of two video accelerators was combined. Essentially VSA is the same thing. Only a more flexible and advanced solution.

The chip was created using 0.25 micron technology and has 14 transistors.
