We are opening a new section directly on testing certain video cards and this time our first subjects were two video cards EAH Radeon HD 5670 and EAH Radeon HD 5750 provided to us by such a well-known manufacturer as Asus. Assuming that all our readers already know the specifications of these video card models in detail, we will conduct a short review of the characteristics of these accelerators and move directly to the gaming tests themselves.

Video card Asus EAH Radeon HD 5670

Like all Radeon HD 5670 series video cards, the Asus EAH5670 1GB card has 1 gigabyte of DDR5 video memory connected to the core via a 128-bit bus, supports the trendy DirectX11 technology, and is equipped with various connectors for displaying images on a monitor. The cardboard box contains only brief information about the product and its characteristics.

asus_eah5670_1

Among the advantages of functionality, we can highlight the presence of an HDMI port, GDDR5 memory and proprietary Dust-proof Fan technology, which allows you to extend the “life” of the cooler by 25%. The proprietary two-slot cooling system itself consists of an aluminum radiator and a low-profile cooler with 11 blades.

asus_eah5670_7

The video card itself is made on red textolite with the use of solid capacitors and high-quality elements. The Asus EAH5670 1GB is based on the Redwood video core made using 40-nanometer technology. The video card operates at the following frequencies: 775 MHz core and 1000 MHz memory, as evidenced by the data from the utility GPU-Z.

 5670

As we have already said, there is more than enough assortment of connectors for image output. There are D-Sub, DVI-I and HDMI connectors. HDMI 1.3 supports 7.1 High Bitrate Audio output.

Video card Asus EAH Radeon HD 5750 Formula

The video card comes in a blue box, which indicates all the key features of the video card. The note about reducing the standard temperature of the video card by 13% stands out, which cannot but please overclocking fans, for whom every extra degree, as well as megahertz, counts.

 5750_2

In this case, with the Asus EAH5750 Formula we are dealing with a completely original solution, which is made using Asus’s own innovative production technologies. The modified cooling system, although it only cools the video core, looks quite impressive and is much more worthy than the reference version. The manufacturer also distinguished itself by turning the connector for the additional power cable 90 degrees, which has its pros and cons, it all depends on the design of the system unit.

5750_3

On the back panel of the video card, despite the fact that the system occupies two standard PCI slots, there is only one bar with standard-height connectors (instead of a double-height bar on the reference card). As a result, the number of connectors is slightly different: instead of two DVI-I outputs, the Asus EAH5750 Formula is equipped with one (the second can be obtained via a bundled adapter), there is also one HDMI output and one VGA output.

5750

The video card operates at standard frequencies that fully correspond to the reference, and you can’t expect anything “unreal” from it in tests. The 1024 MB of memory on the card is comprised of eight Samsung GDDR5 chips with an access time of 0.4 ns and operates at the standard Radeon HD 5750 frequency of 1150 MHz (4.6 GHz DDR). The graphics chip also operates at a standard HD 5750 frequency of 700 MHz.

Test GPU

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using Fraps in the most resource-intensive part of the game. All video cards were tested on a platform with a Core™ i7 processor. The EAH Radeon HD 5670 and EAH Radeon HD 5750 video cards were tested in two separate modern screen resolutions of 1280x1024 and 1920x1080, compared to their direct competitors, the GeForce GT 430 and GeForce GTS 450. The tests were conducted in modern games and benchmarks using DirectX 11, as well as the most resource-intensive and graphically outstanding projects of this year. All tests were conducted at the maximum permissible graphics quality settings.

 Dirt 2

dirt2_game_2010_12_11_13_05_49_436

The sequel will use a modified EGO engine, which has grown since 2007: its physical part has improved, light and shadows have experienced pleasant metamorphoses, and the detail of the surrounding world has noticeably increased. In the second part, the developers promise to pay a lot of attention to the single-player campaign. The example to follow is called GRID.

В Dirt 2 at a resolution of 1280x1024 cards The EAH Radeon HD 5670 and EAH Radeon HD 5750 show quite adequate performance and allow you to enjoy maximum graphics settings. When moving to a resolution of 1920x1080, they can no longer overcome the threshold of 25 FPS. The EAH Radeon HD 5670 outperforms the GeForce GT 430, while the EAH Radeon HD 5750, on the contrary, is inferior to its rival GeForce GTS 450.

Battlefield Bad Company 2

 BFBC2Game_2010_12_11_13_07_08_873

Preserving all the best traditions of the series, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 offers fans of the game a lot of new interesting features. You will have to fight in a variety of conditions: in snowy forests and impenetrable jungles, in hot deserts and inaccessible mountains, which requires the use of appropriate tactics. The graphics in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 did not disappoint, and showed us what the developers from the DICE studio are capable of. Of course, it didn’t manage to reach the level of Crysis, but it’s still a kind of small leap in shooter development over the past few years after a long-term stagnation.

В Battlefield Bad Company 2 has the same balance of power as in Dirt 2. The only thing is The EAH Radeon HD 5670 cannot provide acceptable performance even at 1280x1024 resolution.

Formula 1 2010

F1_2010_game_2010_12_11_13_10_03_869

F1 2010 is a new game based on the 2010 Formula One season. The game is a sequel to F1 1, which was based on the same series. The game was released in September 2009 on the Xbox 2010, PlayStation 360 and Microsoft Windows. The Formula 1 2010 game engine is based on EGO 1.5, also used in Colin McRae: DiRT and Race Driver: GRID. EGO is a game engine, a modified version of the Neon engine used in Colin McRae: DiRT, developed by Codemasters and Sony Computer Entertainment using Sony's cross-platform PhyreEngine graphics engine.

In Formula 1 2010 EAH Radeon HD 5670 is again an outsider at each resolution. This time the EAH Radeon HD 5750 managed to catch up with the GeForce GTS 450 at a resolution of 1280x1024 and surpass it at 1920x1080.

 Metro 2033

metro2033_2010_12_11_13_12_37_934

Of course, Metro 2033 became a second wind for our compatriots. Unlike the moldy STALKER, literally everything in it breathes freshness and manufacturability. The game includes support for all modern graphics APIs, switchable directly in the graphics menu: DirectX 9, DirectX 10 and DirectX 11.

The most technologically advanced and resource-intensive game of our time, Metro 2033, makes using all tested video cards in Direct X 11 mode absolutely useless...

Just Cause 2

JustCause2_2010_12_11_13_13_25_137

So many people already know that to run Just Cause 2 you need the Vista or Windows 7 with DirectX 10. The game is one of the most beautiful released this year. Bokeh filter effects and improved water surface formation based on NVIDIA CUDA were disabled for general "solidarity".

В Just Cause 2  This time the EAH Radeon HD 5750 managed to catch up with the GeForce GTS 450, they are neck and neck, but the use of these video cards is justified only at a resolution of 1280x1024. At 1920x1080, using these cards is absolutely useless.

Mafia II

mafia2_2010_12_11_13_14_23_349

The game takes place between 1945 and 1955 in the fictional city of Empire Bay (the name is a reference to the nickname of New York State). Mafia II is based on the Illusion Engine, which was developed by 2K Czech for internal use. The graphics part of the engine supports raised textures, complex dynamic lighting and shadows, various post-processing effects (such as depth of field), and shader effects.

In Mafia II, an identical picture is observed in terms of performance, the EAH Radeon HD 5670 and GeForce GT 430 are outsiders in both separate screen sizes, and the EAH Radeon HD 5750 and GeForce GTS 450 are only suitable for a resolution of 1280x1024.

ArcaniA - Gothic 4

Arcania_2010_12_11_13_15_55_321

ArcaniA - Gothic 4 is based on a completely different engine than Gothic 3, namely Trinigy Vision Engine by Trinigy. “Trinigy Vision Engine” is cross-platform software and, in addition to a personal computer, also supports the gaming consoles PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360. At the same time, the game has a very immodest appetite for system requirements...

Call of Duty Black Ops

BlackOps_2010_12_11_13_18_13_905

Call of Duty: Black Ops, like all games in this series, is made at a very, very high level and, as expected, amazes us with its cinematic quality, magnificent staged scenes in the best traditions of Hollywood action films.

Call of Duty Black Ops is not the most beautiful and technologically advanced game of this year, but it is the most promoted and widespread. EAH Radeon HD 5670 and GeForce GT 430 show quite decent performance and are quite suitable for use in all separate screen sizes. GeForce GTS 450 shows much higher performance than EAH Radeon HD 5750.

Aliens vs Predator: D3D11 Benchmark

AvP_D3D11_Benchmark_2010_12_11_13_18_59_850

Rebellion, SEGA and Twentieth Century FOX presented a small (303 MB) test - Aliens vs. Predator DirectX 11 Benchmark. The test itself consists of several game scenes, the main character of which is an alien.

Heaven Benchmark v2.1 shows the balance of power corresponding to the price offer for these video accelerators. The EAH Radeon HD 5670 outperforms the GeForce GT 430, and the EAH Radeon HD 5750 is slower than the GeForce GTS 450.

Stone Giant

stone_giant_2010_12_11_13_33_41_794

Two Swedish companies are involved in the creation of Stone Giant: BitSquid and FatShark. The first was the direct creator of the “engine”, the second was responsible for the artistic and graphic component. The ties between the two companies are very close: BitSquid was founded by the owners of the FatShark studio, as well as two leading developers from the GRIN studio (which went bankrupt in August 2009 and managed to release such projects as Ballistics, Bandits: Phoenix Rising, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2 , Bionic Commando, Terminator Salvation).

In the latest graphics brand today, AMD cards have taken the lead, both of them show better results than their opponents from the “green camp”. EAH Radeon HD 5750 and GeForce GTS 450 are almost neck and neck, and The EAH Radeon HD 5670 is almost 1,5 times faster than its opponent, the GeForce GT 430.

EAH Radeon HD 5670: a good budget solution for budget gamers. This video card will allow you to play the most modern games, although in most of them you will have to sacrifice quality or performance settings. The advantage of the video card is the lack of additional power, which makes it a good choice for purchase or upgrade to low-power system configurations.

EAH Radeon HD 5750 Formula: a prominent representative of the Radeon HD 5750 family of cards. This video accelerator shows decent performance in almost all modern games at a resolution of 1280x1024. This card is unlikely to be suitable for Full HD monitors and its battlefield is monitors with a resolution of 1400x900 and 1280x1024. The card is recommended for purchase by gamers with an average budget. One of the advantages of the card is the original cooling, which is an excellent alternative to the reference.
