Until Dawn updated to version 1.05: Full list of changes and fixes |
The recently released update 1.05 for Until Dawn has added a ton of fixes and improvements for both the PlayStation 5 and PC versions of the game. The long-awaited patch fixes a ton of technical issues, improving overall stability and performance. The focus is on fixing bugs, improving graphics, and supporting new technologies like FSR 3.1 and adapting to DualSense controllers. This patch is a big step forward in supporting the game on modern platforms, and here's what's changed.
Bug fixes and graphics issues
One of the key aspects of the update is the elimination of bugs that directly affected the gameplay. For example, players reported problems with Mike "sliding" in the Sanatorium in Chapter 9, which disrupted the realism of the scene and interfered with gameplay. In version 1.05, this problem was solved. Also fixed was a bug with Chris appearing after using the "Wanted" hint in Chapter 1, which led to incorrect character animation.
Additionally, the patch fixes issues with black screens and sudden frame drops on low graphics settings, especially on devices like Steam Deck. This has improved the game's optimization on weaker hardware, which is an important step for players who prefer mobile or budget platforms.
Technological updates and new features
Update 1.05 also included significant improvements in terms of graphics and technology. For example, support for the DualSense controller's touchpad for interacting with certain objects in the game has been improved. This addition will make the gameplay more interactive and immersive for PlayStation 5 users.
A special focus was placed on fixing issues with AMD FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). Previously, players reported issues with frame generation and VSync, which affected the smoothness of the image. The update to FSR 3.1.1 improved performance and image quality, and reduced latency when using the frame generation feature. The patch also fixed issues with .dll files that caused crashes on Steam Deck.
New technologies like HDR support and Dolby Atmos settings fixes allow users to enjoy the game with maximum audio depth and visuals. Resolution scaling has been improved and issues with HDR settings that sometimes caused color distortion on PS5 have been fixed.
Problems with saving and loading
Before the release of update 1.05, players often encountered bugs that prevented progress from being saved, and sometimes even resulted in data loss. For example, a bug in Chapter 9 could block Sam outside the Sanatorium, making it impossible to continue playing the game. The patch fixed this issue and other similar bugs, improving the overall stability of saves and loading. In addition, the developers added a retrospective fix for old saves, which allows you to fix problems even in previously saved playthroughs.
Known issues and future plans
Despite the extensive list of fixes, there are still some unresolved issues in the game all. The developers note that frame generation is still heavily dependent on the use of an upscaler, and some users may encounter artifacts. In addition, the patch does not yet include full support for monitor selection, which limits the flexibility of display settings.
The game also still needs some work on its Raytracing feature, which doesn't work stably on all platforms. Users have reported issues with logging in via PlayStation Overlay and conflicts with antivirus software, which can cause the game to crash.
Graphics improvements and AMD support
The developers continue to actively work with AMD to improve FSR support and resolve remaining frame generation issues. AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, designed to improve visual effects on various PC configurations, was one of the key components of the patch. In collaboration with AMD, the developers intend to address performance issues, and also plan to implement further improvements related to FSR and DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling).
The developers are currently planning to add improvements to DLSS and Temporal Super Resolution (TSR), which will help solve the remaining issues with artifacts on character hair and other objects. They are also continuing to work on fixing bugs related to Raytracing support and other rendering technologies.
Update 1.05 for Until Dawn was an important step in improving the game's performance and eliminating many bugs that interfered with the gameplay. The developers focused on eliminating problems with saving, graphical errors, and supporting modern technologies such as FSR 3.1 and HDR. However, the game still has some unresolved issues related to frame generation and Raytracing support that require further fixes. The developers continue to work on improving the game and plan to introduce new technologies to improve visual effects and performance in upcoming updates.
