DEVELOPMENT HISTORY

Development of UBOAT began in 2016 and was made possible through a successful Kickstarter campaign. The initial fundraising goal was CAD 20, but the team was able to raise CAD 000 thanks to the support of over 38 donors. This successful start allowed a team of developers, consisting of young and experienced specialists, to begin work on the project, which was initially called Uboot.

UBOAT 2024 08 03 14 58 23 718

Inspired by games such as Fallout Shelter and XCOM, as well as the film "Das Boot", the developers sought to create a unique gameplay mechanic that combines elements of survival and strategic management of the submarine crew. During the development process, the game underwent many changes and improvements. Every aspect of the game has been carefully thought out and crafted to provide players with the most realistic and immersive experience possible.

The game was originally scheduled to be released in 2017, but the project faced a number of delays. In April 2019, the game entered early access on the Steam platform, which allowed the developers to receive valuable feedback from players. This early access period was extremely important for further improving the game, so that the developers could quickly respond to feedback and suggestions from the community.

UBOAT 2024 08 03 15 00 09 539

During Early Access, the team actively worked on fixing bugs and adding new features. New models of aircraft and ships were introduced, mechanics and visual elements were improved. These updates not only improved the gameplay, but also made the game more stable and fun for players.

The final version of UBOAT was released in August 2024, completing a multi-year development cycle. The game received positive reviews for its realism and attention to detail, becoming one of the best submarine warfare simulations. The developers continue to support the project, releasing updates and improvements to make the gameplay even more exciting.

GRAPHICS

UBOAT's graphics are a combination of steely industrial design and a high degree of detail. The developers paid special attention to recreating the confined and claustrophobic conditions on board a submarine from the Second World War. This made it possible to create a unique atmosphere that immerses the player in the realities of underwater warfare.

UBOAT 2024 08 03 15 00 33 474

One of the key aspects of the graphics is the realistic modeling of the interiors and exteriors of the submarine. Players can see every detail, from the control mechanisms to the living conditions on board. This approach to detail allows you not only to enjoy the visual effects, but also to better understand the life of the submarine crew.

UBOAT 2024 08 03 15 01 51 234

The game's sound design also plays an important role in creating atmosphere. The sounds of enemy ships' propellers, sonar pings and the creaking of metal under pressure create tension and a sense of real danger. The musical accompaniment includes orchestral compositions that enhance the atmosphere of the game, adding epicness and drama to moments of battles and victories.

However, despite the high quality graphics, the game sometimes faces performance issues. Framerate drops can be frustrating for players, especially during intense parts of the game. This is due to the high level of detail and complexity of the visual effects, which require significant system resources.

UBOAT 2024 08 03 15 01 55 474

The modding community actively supports the project, adding new modifications that improve the visual and gameplay aspects of the game. These modifications not only enhance the game's capabilities, but also help resolve some performance issues, making the gameplay more stable and enjoyable for players.

GAME ENGINE

UBOAT was developed on the Unity game engine, which provides a wide range of capabilities for creating complex simulations. Unity allows developers to use various graphical and physical effects, which makes the game more realistic and immersive. This engine became the basis for creating the unique gaming experience that UBOAT offers.

UBOAT 2024 08 03 15 02 02 290

One of the key elements of a game engine is the implementation of various detection and interaction systems. There are seven detection mechanisms in the game, including visual, passive and active audio detection, radar and radio transmissions. These systems help players control the submarine and avoid detection by the enemy, creating dynamic and exciting gameplay.

UBOAT 2024 08 03 15 03 59 066

The developers have introduced many hand-operated devices into the game, such as a hydrophone, torpedo tubes and diesel engines. This allows players to immerse themselves more deeply in the process of controlling a submarine and feel like real captains. Such features make the gameplay more interactive and interesting, giving players the ability to control every aspect of their submarine.

UBOAT 2024 08 03 15 06 43 407

Additional improvements such as crew animations and updated torpedo bay models add realism and detail to the game. These improvements not only make the game visually appealing, but also improve the overall gameplay experience, making it smoother and more intuitive. Players can enjoy high-quality visuals and realistic animations that create an immersive experience in the world of undersea warfare.

The UBOAT developers continue to support the project by releasing updates and improvements. This allows them to fix bugs and add new features that make the game even more exciting and interesting. Thanks to the active support of the community and developers, UBOAT remains one of the best submarine warfare simulations to date, offering players a unique and realistic gaming experience.

DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES

Minimum settings

At minimum graphics settings U-BOAT Players can expect reduced texture quality and reduced environmental detail. This includes lower texture resolution, simplified object models, and reduced visual effects. These settings are designed to provide consistent performance on systems with less powerful hardware, while maintaining core gameplay elements. Players will see simpler and less detailed scenes, but the gameplay will remain rich and exciting.

Recommended settings

Game on recommended graphics settings U-BOAT demonstrates its best visual capabilities. High resolution textures, detailed character models and environments, complex light and shadow effects make the gameplay exciting and visually impressive. Maximum settings also include more complex particle effects and improved global illumination, making the game world feel vibrant and realistic. Players will be able to enjoy smooth gameplay with high frame rates and complete immersion in the atmosphere of underwater adventures.
