DEVELOPMENT HISTORY |
DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES |
Ray tracing in Dragon Age: The Veilguard provides a significant improvement in the quality of lighting, shadows and reflections. Scenes with dynamic light sources look more realistic - light rays pass through objects, creating natural shadows with soft transitions. Transparent and mirrored surfaces, such as lakes and glass, display detailed and accurate reflections of the environment. Global illumination is also significantly improved, adding depth and realism to each scene. The shadow system becomes dynamic and adapts to changing lighting conditions, which is especially noticeable during the transition from day to night.
No ray tracing
With ray tracing disabled, the graphics remain impressive, but some effects become less complex and detailed. Lighting is based on traditional rendering methods, and reflections are replaced by pre-made maps, which makes them less accurate. Shadows have sharper edges and are less detailed, which is noticeable on complex surfaces and textures. Reflections on water surfaces and glass appear less detailed, and dynamic shadows from moving objects are simplified. However, this approach allows for a significant increase in game performance and maintains a stable frame rate even on systems with average specifications, making the game more accessible to a wider audience.
