DiRT Rally is a new game in a series of popular racing projects that offers an off-road ride. The project offers a test of patience and ability to get the most out of a car on difficult turns, understanding that every mistake can be fatal in the final standings. DiRT Rally offers detailed car customization options, and the damage system, combined with the limited time allotted for repairs, makes you even more careful about your iron horse during races.

THE GRAFICAL PART |
This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.
Supported OS and graphics API |
DiRT Rally is supported by major operating systems Windows, which includes Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8/10. Other operating systems are not currently supported by developers and will not be supported.
The priority and main graphics API for DiRT Rally is DirectX 11.
Game engine |
DiRT Rally, like all the latest games from this studio, was developed on a modified EGO engine version 3.0. EGO is a game engine, a modified version of the Neon engine used in the game Colin McRae: DiRT, developed by Codemasters and Sony Computer Entertainment using Sony's cross-platform PhyreEngine graphics engine. The engine is targeted at the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 hardware and software platforms.
On July 6, 2009, Brian Marshall, Codemasters' technical director, officially announced that the PC version of DiRT 2, which would use the "EGO" engine, would add support for DirectX 11. Thus, the "EGO" engine became the first engine for which DirectX 11 support was implemented.
Advanced Game Settings |
DiRT Rally has both basic and advanced graphics settings typical of the latest games from Codemasters. We can set both basic and manipulate advanced graphic options.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between the minimum, medium and maximum graphics quality settings.

General visual design and game physics |
The release version of DiRT Rally, in our opinion, is visually practically no different from the beta version of the game. Before us is all the same game, all the same graphics and all the same settings.
Next, we will move directly to gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

Test GPU |
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Below is a video of the test segment of the gaming benchmark:
Our graphics cards were tested at separate screen resolutions of 1920x1080, 2560x1600 and 3840x2160 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by DiRT Rally. AMD CrossFireX and SLI works in the game without problems.
It is noteworthy that at low separate screen resolutions, AMD video cards faced a performance limitation on our system, which was not observed in the beta version, although we used OS Windows 8.1. With the increase in resolution this problem has gone away, but the fact remains - the game has some shortcomings, in particular, with the compatibility of configurations.
Testing at resolution 1920x1080 |
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080
With these settings, video cards of the Radeon HD 7850 or GeForce GTX 750 Ti level showed acceptable FPS.
Testing at resolution 2560x1440 |
Testing at maximum quality settings 2560x1440
With these settings, video cards of the Radeon HD 7850 or GeForce GTX 750 Ti level showed acceptable FPS. The optimal solutions would be Radeon HD 7850 or GeForce GTX 660.
Testing at resolution 3840x2160 |
Testing at maximum quality settings 3840x2160
With these settings, video cards of the Radeon HD 7970 or GeForce GTX 690 level showed acceptable FPS. The optimal solutions would be Radeon R9 280X or GeForce GTX 780.
Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 with different anti-aliasing settings.
Testing at maximum memory quality settings GPU
The recommended amount of video memory usage for a resolution of 1920x1080 will be 2048 MB of video memory, for a resolution of 2560x1440 - 3076 MB of video memory, and for a resolution of 3840x2160 about 4096 MB of video memory.
Test CPU |
We tested processor dependence on 16 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of the video card for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1920x1080.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080
The processor performance in the game is very good.
Loading of processor coresat maximum quality settings 1920x1080 Intel%
Loading of processor cores at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 AMD%
DiRT Rally uses up to 8 computing threads.
RAM test |
The test was carried out on the basic configuration of Core i 7 5960X@4.6 GHz with 32 GB DDR4 2400 MGz pre-installed memory. The entire used operational memory was taken as an indicator. The RAM test on the entire system was carried out on various test benches without launching third-party applications (browsers, etc.).
Testing the game's RAM consumption at various quality settings
As we can see, with various quality settings, the amount of RAM consumed in DiRT Rally is within 1300 megabytes.
Testing system RAM consumption
If you have a 6GB system, Rainbow DiRT Rally consumes about 3GB of RAM. In the presence of a system with 8 gigabytes, the RAM consumption of all RAM was 3.2 gigabytes. With a 16 GB system, the total memory consumption was almost 3.5 gigabytes. And with 32 gigabytes of RAM, the system consumes 4 gigabytes of RAM.
