Official description of the game
Experience the charm and lifestyle of a real driver in one of the most exciting sports - Formula 1™! Compete with real drivers and their teams in the highly anticipated FIA game - FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™. You will meet real Formula 1™ drivers such as Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso.
You can become a real winner of the Canadian Grand Prix, take part in a dramatic night race in Singapore and take first place on the new Korean Grand Prix circuit. In addition to participating in competitions, you need to fully integrate into the life of an athlete - participate in press conferences, build relationships with the team. All this will greatly influence the gameplay - the loyalty of sponsors (whose money can be used to improve the car), team cohesion and much more. The new engine from Codemasters “EGO Game Technology” will give you stunning visual special effects, dynamic weather changes and an absolutely realistic damage model .
All this can be experienced not only in a single game, but also in competitions with friends in multiplayer. The Formula 1™ 2010 game will allow you to penetrate into the very heart of the FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, like no other project before.
Review: Playability
F1 2010 is a new game based on the 2010 Formula One season. The game is a sequel to F1 1, which was based on the same series. The game was released in September 2009 on the Xbox 2010, PlayStation 360 and Microsoft Windows. Codemasters confirmed the development on April 23, 2009.
When compared with existing projects today, Formula 1 2010 is like Colin McRae: DiRT 2 with a dash of Formula 1 video broadcasts. DiRT 2 inherited the game engine and game style - the same shed on wheels, but with the bonus of its own manager . Departures from the dock and visits for repairs look very impressive, which gives the game its own charm.
Depending on the difficulty level, the very principle of the game changes. At the easy level, the game is more reminiscent of an arcade: the computer automatically speeds up or slows down the car depending on the situation, so feel free to step on the gas and steer right or left. As the difficulty level increases, the driving requirements also increase proportionally, so you'll have to work hard.
We invite you to evaluate part of the game walkthrough of Formula 1 2010, where you can see for yourself the quality of this product, the video is short, but there is something to see in it:
Arcade players have nothing to do in this game - the game will get boring after a few runs, if not sooner. But avid simulator players and former fans of the Formula 1 2010 series will get well-deserved pleasure from the game and will be glad to see the reincarnation of a game from this series, which, judging by everything, has entered the production line and hints at the release of a new part in the near future...
Review: Game Graphics
The Formula 1 2010 game engine is based on EGO 1.5, also used in Colin McRae: DiRT and Race Driver: GRID. EGO is a game engine, a modified version of the Neon engine used in Colin McRae: DiRT, developed by Codemasters and Sony Computer Entertainment using Sony's cross-platform PhyreEngine graphics engine. The engine is targeted at PC hardware and software platforms (Windows), Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
On July 6, 2009, Bryan Marshall, CTO of Codemasters, officially announced that the PC version of Colin McRae: DiRT 2, which will use the "EGO" engine, will add support for DirectX 11. Thus, the engine "EGO" became the first engine for which support for DirectX 11 was announced. The second product, as you can guess, was Formula 1 2010...
But to be honest, the difference between DirectX 9 and DirectX 11 modes, as in the case of Colin McRae: DiRT 2, is almost impossible to see, so owners of older cards can not bother their heads with buying a new video card... At the end of July 2010, Codemasters Senior Vice President Jamie MacDonald in an interview with Develop reported on the company's new games that are being developed using EGO 2.0, the second iteration of the engine. According to him, at this time the company is actively developing the engine.
And perhaps in EGO version 2.0 we will see more evidence of the advantages of DirectX 11 compared to its predecessors, although perhaps a new cross-platform leveling awaits us. So we will be able to see all subsequent games from Codemasters either on an updated graphical shell, or with the same image on all gaming platforms...
Review: Resource-intensive game
To play Formula 1 2010 comfortably, you will need a Core 2 Duo 2.83 GHz or Phenom II X2 540 processor and 2 gigabytes of RAM. Multithreading in the form of more than 2 is used, but is not a prerequisite.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality by the Fraps program in the most resource-intensive part of the game. Less powerful video cards are tested based on the Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor, and more powerful ones are tested based on Core™ i7 processors.
Our video cards were tested this time in separate screen resolutions of 1280x1024 and 1920x1080 in DirectX 9 and DirectX 11 modes, and you can evaluate how your video card behaves relative to other modern solutions. All video cards were tested at maximum graphic quality settings with full-screen antialiasing enabled at 8X.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1280x1024 DirectX 9
In 1280x1024 mode in DirectX 9 at maximum quality settings, players will need video cards of the Radeon HD 3870 or GeForce GT 240 level.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 DirectX 9
At a resolution of 1920x1080, players will need cards of the Radeon HD 4830 or GeForce 8800 GTX level, so owners of mid-level cards can count on acceptable FPS.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1280x1024 DirectX 11
When switching to DirectX 11 mode, Radeon cards take over the initiative and show a slight advantage when using them. The Radeon HD 5870 turns out to be faster than the GeForce GTX 480, and the Radeon HD 5850 shows a greater lead over the GeForce GTX 470... A resolution of 1280x1024 will require you to have a video card such as the Radeon HD 5750 or GeForce GTS 450.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 DirectX 11
When moving to HD resolution 1920x1080, the balance of power does not change - Radeon cards dominate with a slight advantage. The Radeon HD 5750 or GeForce GTS 450 can again provide the most comfortable game without noticeable FPS drops.
Final World: Formula 1 2010 is a very high-quality racing simulator that deserves special attention from fans of “full realism”. Dedicated to all fans of the genre... Well, at the moment there is active testing of ArcaniA - Gothic 4 Demo, whose release promises us the appearance of another graphic “heavyweight”...
