Aquanox Deep Descent - PC performance graphics benchmarks of Graphics Cards and Processors
BASIC GAME INFORMATION |
Release date: 16 October 2020
Genre: Simulation, Action
developer: Digital Arrow
Publisher: THQ Nordic
Aquanox Deep Descent is a first-person shooter with underwater vehicles in which players control a variety of ships and fight in furious battles in the depths of the ocean in the dystopia that is the world of Aqua.
Life on the surface of the Earth has become impossible. The remnants of humanity are huddled in former mining and research stations located deep under water. Factions formed in a network of underwater colonies, whose inhabitants know no other life, are waging a war for resources and power.
Lead a team of trained attack pilots and begin an incredible journey through the dark world of Aquanox. Send enemies towards Davy Jones with targeted strikes from torpedoes, shrapnel explosions, mines and other weapons. You have to cross all the oceans of the world and descend into the deepest cracks of the Earth.
THE GRAFICAL PART |
This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.
SUPPORTED OS AND GRAPHICS API |
Aquanox Deep Descent supported Windows 7 / 8 /10.
The priority and main graphics API for Aquanox Deep Descent is DX11.
GAME ENGINE |
Aquanox Deep Descent is based on the Unreal Engine 3.5 game engine. In this version, there was another evolution of the graphical component relative to Unreal Engine 3. So, among other things, an Ambient occlusion post-processing filter was added, which improves shadows and lighting. The number of processed characters in the frame has been increased. Dynamic water surface technology has been reworked to a new level, soft body physics and destructible environments have also been significantly improved.
In March 2010, an announcement of new engine features was published, which were presented at the Game Developers Conference 2010. One of the main innovations is the new Unreal Lightmass lighting calculation system, which uses global illumination without losing functions that were implemented in older lighting systems. Improved work with multiprocessor systems - distribution of tasks between multiprocessor systems using Unreal Swarm, as well as faster compilation of C++ code and processing of Unreal Script due to the Unreal Build Tool (the latest performance increase will only affect developers or creators of amateur modifications).
Added our own means of distributing user content - Unreal Content Browser, Unreal Master appeared Control Program is a new master server for updating clients and maintaining global statistics, which is already used in Gears of War 2. In connection with the innovations, Epic Games China planned to demonstrate the use of the engine for massively multiplayer online games.
In 2011, Epic Games showed a video about the latest updates made to the engine - Samaritan; the press and players began calling it "Unreal Engine 3.9". In the next update, the third generation engine received support for DirectX 11/12, as well as a huge number of related technologies.
GRAPHICS SETTINGS |
Aquanox Deep Descent has a sufficient range of graphic settings.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between the minimum and maximum graphics quality settings.
DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES |
GENERAL VISUALS AND GAME PHYSICS |
The graphics in Aquanox Deep Descent look somewhat outdated and are more suitable for the mobile segment:
Well, then we will move directly to gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

Our video cards were tested at different screen sizes of 1920x1080, 2560x1600 and 3840x2160 at maximum game graphics quality settings.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX and GTX video cards are provided by LLC Business Development Center.
TEST GPU |
In the video card test, the default resolution is 1920x1080; other resolutions are added and removed manually. You can also remove and add any positions of video cards. You can also select any of our test processors from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given video card tests (by default, the most productive solution is selected). The test is performed on the most powerful CPU and is scaled to other processors, taking into account their testing on NVIDIA and AMD video cards.

When resolved 3840x2160 an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon RX Vega 56 or GeForce GTX 1070 level. Minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the level Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 1080.
VIDEO MEMORY CONSUMPTION |
Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on the results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 with different anti-aliasing settings. By default, the graph displays the most current solutions. Other video cards are added and removed from the chart at the request of the reader.
