General visual design and game physics

Frostbite Engine 3 is not for racing and why EA is trying to impose it on all its games, even if it does not fit into the genre remains a mystery. Last year's Need for Speed ​​looked noticeably more solid than this year's Need for Speed ​​Rivals, and this is mainly observed in more realistic color reproduction and improved detailing of the surrounding world.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using the PlayClaw 5 program. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The average and minimum FPS were taken as performance indicators. Our video cards were tested at different screen sizes of 1920x1080, 2560x1600 and 3840x2160 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by Need for Speed ​​Rivals. The game has an internal FPS limit of 30 frames. To get around this drawback, we set -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 in the properties of the game shortcut and as a result the frame rate reached 60. But for a comfortable game we recommend setting no more than -GameTime.MaxSimFps 40(40FPS) - at an increased frame rate, the game speeds up and is extremely uncomfortable to play. We chose 60 FPS to better see the balance of power among competitors.

To increase the texture resolution, the following commands were written in the shortcut properties: for a resolution of 1920x1080 - -Render.ResolutionScale 2.000000(200%), for resolution 2560x1600 - -Render.ResolutionScale 1.700000(170%), for resolution 3840x2160 - -Render.ResolutionScale 1.200000(120%). In this case, the FPS limit was no longer bypassed and was equal to 30 FPS. In this case, only video cards of the latest generations were tested due to the need for at least 2 gigabytes of video memory and a powerful graphics subsystem.
