DEVELOPMENT HISTORY

The MXGP series of games dedicated to the Motocross World Championship has delighted fans of the genre for many years with realistic gameplay and attention to detail. However, after the release of "MXGP 2021" in 2021, there was a three-year break due to the need to rethink the franchise and adapt it to the modern requirements of the gaming industry. In 2023, Nacon announced the return of the series, entrusting the development of "MXGP 24: The Official Game" to KT Racing, known for projects such as "Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown" and the WRC series. This decision marked a new stage in the development of the franchise, aimed at increasing the realism and depth of the gameplay.

MXGP 2024 12 01 12 57 10 049

The development of MXGP 24 began with a thorough review of player feedback and previous installments in the series. The team aimed to retain the core elements that fans have come to love while introducing innovations that meet modern standards. Particular attention was paid to content licensing: all 20 tracks of the 2024 championship, more than 50 riders from the MX1 and MX2 categories, as well as official teams such as Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing and Honda HRC were included in the game.

MXGP 2024 12 01 12 57 43 792

One of the main tasks of the developers was to create a system of "evolving track conditions", allowing the tracks to dynamically change under the influence of weather conditions and the actions of the riders. This innovation added realism and required players to adapt to the constantly changing conditions on the track. During the development process, the team worked closely with professional riders and motocross experts to ensure maximum authenticity of the motorcycle physics and the behavior of the riders. Thanks to this, "MXGP 24" offers players a unique experience as close as possible to real competitions.

MXGP 2024 12 01 12 59 07 555

"MXGP 24: The Official Game" was released on November 28, 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game received positive reviews for its attention to detail, realistic physics and rich content, confirming the success of the new direction chosen by the developers.

GRAPHICS

"MXGP 24: The Official Game" demonstrates a significant advancement in graphics compared to previous parts of the series. Using the capabilities of modern consoles and PCs, the developers have created a visually impressive motocross world that conveys all the nuances and dynamics of this extreme sport.

MXGP 2024 12 01 12 59 16 703

One of the key features of the graphics is the "evolving track conditions" system. The tracks change dynamically depending on weather conditions and the actions of the racers: ruts formed on the ground remain throughout the race, affecting the control and requiring players to adapt to new conditions. This system adds depth and realism, making each race unique.

MXGP 2024 12 01 13 00 55 915

The level of detail in the environments is particularly noteworthy. Each of the 20 official circuits of the 2024 championship has been recreated with high accuracy, including landscape elements, vegetation and architecture typical of real locations. Spectators, paddocks and surrounding landscapes have been worked out to the smallest detail, creating the feeling of being present at a real competition.

The bikes and riders are modeled with a high degree of realism. Each bike matches its real-life counterpart, including the smallest design details and sponsor stickers. Riders such as Jorge Prado, Jeffrey Herlings and Andrea Adamo have recognizable features and equipment, which increases immersion in the game. The lighting system in "MXGP 24" has been significantly improved. Dynamic lighting and shadows create believable scenes at different times of day and in different weather conditions. For example, sunbeams breaking through foliage or the reflections of the moon on a wet track add depth and realism.

MXGP 2024 12 01 13 02 25 118

Weather effects such as rain, snow and fog are not only visually impressive, but also affect the gameplay. Rain makes the track slippery, making it more difficult to control, while fog reduces visibility, requiring increased concentration from the player. These elements add a strategic component and make each race unpredictable.

The animations of riders and bikes are now smoother and more natural. Every action, whether it is a jump from a ramp or a sharp turn, is accompanied by corresponding body movements of the rider and the reaction of the bike, which increases the feeling of realism. Overall, the graphic design of "MXGP 24: The Official Game" sets a new standard for racing games, offering players a visually rich and authentic world of motocross.

GAME ENGINE

"MXGP 24: The Official Game" is developed on KT Racing's own engine, known as the KT Engine. This engine has previously been used in projects such as the WRC series and "Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown", and has proven itself to be a powerful tool for creating realistic racing simulations.

MXGP 2024 12 01 13 03 34 753

The KT Engine provides developers with a wide range of options for creating detailed and dynamic game worlds. In "MXGP 24", the engine provides high performance and realistic physics, which is especially important for motocross racing, where the behavior of motorcycles and interaction with the surface play a key role. One of the main features of the KT Engine in "MXGP 24" is the reworked physics, which provides natural dynamics of movement of bikes and riders. Each interaction of the motorcycle with the track surface is designed taking into account many factors, including the type of soil, weather conditions and speed. This allows players to feel the difference between racing on a sandy track and passing a track washed out by rain.

MXGP 2024 12 01 13 03 18 985

The engine also supports a complex system of interaction with the environment. The tracks in "MXGP 24" can change in real time under the influence of the riders. The ruts that form on the ground not only remain throughout the race, but also affect the passage of the track. These elements require a strategic approach from players, allowing them to choose the optimal trajectories and avoid mistakes.

Particular attention was paid to optimizing engine performance. "MXGP 24" offers smooth gameplay with a high frame rate, even when displaying complex scenes such as crowded stands or dynamic weather conditions. This was made possible by the use of LOD (level of detail) technologies, which dynamically adapt the quality of the display of objects depending on the distance to the camera.

MXGP 2024 12 01 13 03 47 162

The lighting system integrated into the engine adds realism and depth to the visuals. Dynamic lighting changes depending on the time of day and weather conditions, creating realistic scenes. For example, dawn on the track is accompanied by a soft warm light, and during night races, motorcycles illuminate the track with bright headlights, casting realistic shadows. Weather effects such as rain, snow and fog have also been implemented based on the engine's capabilities. These elements are not only visually impressive, but also interact with the physics of the game. For example, rain makes the ground more slippery, and snow makes the bike heavier to move, adding a challenge to the player.

MXGP 2024 12 01 13 04 17 330

The KT Engine allowed the developers to implement a complex artificial intelligence system. Opponents in the game adapt to the player's style, use different tactics and even react to changes in the track. This makes racing more dynamic and exciting, providing players with new challenges. An additional advantage of the engine is the support of the VR mode, which allows players to fully immerse themselves in the racing atmosphere. Virtual reality enhances the effect of presence, allowing you to view the tracks and motorcycles from a completely new angle.

QUALITY

Minimum settings:

At minimum settings MXGP 24: The Official Game Provides basic environment and texture detail to ensure stable performance on less powerful systems. Tracks, textures, and environmental elements will have reduced detail, while weather and lighting effects will be simplified. This will allow players to enjoy the game at an acceptable level of quality while still providing smooth gameplay.

Maximum settings:

When using high and maximum settings, the game reveals its full graphical potential. Maximum texture detail, realistic lighting and shadow effects, improved visual effects and dynamic weather make the gameplay as immersive and spectacular as possible.
