SIGGRAPH 2017: AMD Unveils Radeon RX Vega, the World's Most Powerful Graphics Card under $400, and Breaks the 1TB VRAM Barrier with Radeon Pro SSG
At the annual Capsaicin SIGGRAPH event in Los Angeles, AMD strengthened its position in the high-end PC market with new Ryzen Threadripper processors and “Vega” GPUs. New products allow you to play modern games in a new way and work on creating content today and tomorrow.
Key messages from the action-packed event included:
- Launch of a family of video chips Radeon RX Vega, which will go on sale August 14th. The series includes three new products based on the “Vega” architecture. They fundamentally change the gameplay and content creation work.
- With 64 compute units, the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition is the most powerful Radeon graphics card ever made.
- Radeon RX Vega 64 also comes with air cooling
- The Radeon RX Vega 56 is available with a suggested price of $399 US and the Radeon RX 64 with a suggested price of $499 US.
- The Radeon Pro WX 9100 workstation graphics card delivers peak single-precision performance of up to 12,3 teraflops. It is designed for media and entertainment tasks, development and production processes.
- AMD Radeon Pro SSG, the world's first graphics card to break the terabyte VRAM barrier, comes with 2TB of VRAM for smooth performance and real-time 8K video editing.
- Starting August 10, 16- and 12-core Ryzen Threadripper processors will go on sale, for which pre-orders are already open.
- Starting August 31, the previously unannounced 8-core Ryzen Threadripper processor will be available.
- The start of the project has been announced AMD Studios, an AMD initiative in Hollywood, which will develop entertainment technologies, create hardware and software for the ever-growing needs of modern cinema.

- The 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen Threadripper 1920X with a base frequency of 3,5 GHz and a boost frequency of 4,0 GHz is available for pre-order at a suggested price of $799.
- The new 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen Threadripper 1900X with a base frequency of 3,8 GHz and an increased frequency of 4,0 GHz will go on sale on August 31 at a recommended price of $549.
All AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors are supported by the extensive X399 platform ecosystem from launch on motherboards from leading manufacturers including ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI.
AMD is changing gaming enthusiast expectations with Radeon RX Vega and Radeon Packs
- The Radeon RX Vega graphics card represents the most sophisticated GPU architecture designed for gaming enthusiasts. It delivers peak performance of up to 13,7 Teraflops and can power even the most demanding games and VR applications.
- The Radeon RX Vega 56 discrete graphics card is available with a suggested price of $399 US, and the Radeon RX 64 is available with a suggested price of $499 US.
- AMD also unveiled the Radeon Pack, designed to give gamers access to the technologies they need most, as well as upgrades to enable 4K gaming at 60 frames per second. Radeon Packs offer $200 off the Samsung CF34 FreeSync 791" Curved Monitor and $100 off select Ryzen™ 7 1800X processors and X370 motherboards. $300 in total savings on equipment. In addition to Radeon RX Vega graphics cards, the discount applies to Samsung monitors with Radeon Freesync, as well as Ryzen processor and motherboard bundles. In select regions, each Radeon Pack also includes two highly anticipated games: Wolfenstein® II: The New Colossus™ and Prey® are free, with an estimated price of approximately $120.

- Supports innovative graphics technologies, including Rapid Packed Math, High Bandwidth Cache Controller, as well as the new Geometry and Pixel engines will help improve performance in games that support low-level APIs, such as DirectX 12 and Vulkan. AMD and Inventec introduce the P47: 1 Petaflops of performance for the most challenging visualization and machine intelligence workloads.
