GAME ENGINE

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is being developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5 gaming system. The game is directed by creative director Marcus Smith and game director Mike Daly. The game was announced on June 11, 2020 at the PlayStation 5 presentation from Sony. At the opening of Gamescom on August 27, 2020, Insomniac Games staged a 7-minute gameplay demonstration of the game as part of the PlayStation 5 advertising campaign. On April 26, 2021, at the State of Play presentation, Sony presented a large 16-minute gameplay trailer.

The game leverages the capabilities of the DualSense controller, Tempest Engine audio engine, and dedicated ray tracing hardware to support respectively enhanced haptic feedback, spatial 3D audio, and real-time ray tracing effects. Thanks to increased processing power and the inclusion of a dedicated SSD in the PlayStation 5, the game features a greater variety of NPCs, enemies, visuals and objects in the game's scenes. Improvements in game design aim to significantly reduce loading times when transitioning between worlds, which should provide a seamless and immersive gameplay experience.

Marcus Smith, creative director at Insomniac Games, spoke to GamesRadar+ about the PS5's custom-designed SSD making workflows easier, saying that "the game uses dimensions and dimensional rifts, and that wouldn't be possible without the PlayStation 5 SSD," adding further that it is “amazingly fast. It allows us to create worlds and move players from one place to another almost instantly. This is an incredible change to the game: we can now make gameplay where you're in one world and the next moment you're in another."

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart takes up about 42 gigabytes on the console's hard drive.

In our opinion, if you want to play with RT and 60 FPS, then it is better to use the performance mode with ray tracing.

HDR OFF/ON COMPARISON

 In this section, we presented comparisons of picture quality with HDR turned on and off through photography.

 Mode HDR looks a little preferable, although color tastes vary.
