GAME ENGINE |
The game is based on Decima, a game engine developed by Guerrilla Games, released on November 15, 2013. It houses tools and features for creating AI, physics, logic, and worlds while developing on it, as well as 4K and HDR compatibility. It is most famous for its use in Killzone: Shadow Fall, Until Dawn, RIGS: Mechanized Combat League and Horizon Zero Dawn, as well as the upcoming Death Stranding.
Guerrilla Games began development of Horizon Zero Dawn in 2011, after the release of Killzone 3. About 40 concepts were viewed while searching for ideas for a new game. Mathijs de Jong, the game's director, considered it the "riskiest" idea the developer had proposed. Once the game concept was chosen, a team of 10-20 people began developing prototypes for the game; many elements that were present in the prototypes remained in the final version.
Approximately 20 different stories were written, exploring different ideas, such as multiple protagonists. John Gonzales, who was previously the lead writer for Fallout: New Vegas, was hired to write the story. Major story elements remained intact from early development. After Killzone Shadow Fall completed development at the end of 2013, the freed-up part of the team joined work on Horizon.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION |
Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition takes up exactly 47 gigabytes on the console's hard drive.
Content size in versions PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro are identical.
CONTROL |
Control settings are involved in two menus - main and auxiliary.
As we can see, absolutely all manipulators are involved and perform many game functions.
SETTINGS |
In the PlayStation 4 Pro settings we have two graphics modes and an HDR rendering mode. There are also two additional bonus menus: “Face Painting” and “Visor Model”, which are not available on the PlayStation 4 Slim.
The PlayStation 4 Slim does not have a graphics mode; we only have access to the brightness level and HDR rendering.
Well, then let’s see how the game differs between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
COMPARISON between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro |
In this case we compare PlayStation 4 in standard mode and on PlayStation 4 Pro with enhanced resolution.
Of course the graphics are on PlayStation 4 Pro is better, but not much, and standard PlayStation 4 remains only slightly from it. Below is our comparative video review directly in the gameplay(Be sure to watch in 4K mode!):
HDR OFF/ON COMPARISON |
In this section, we presented comparisons of picture quality with HDR turned on and off through photography.
Of course, photography automatically adjusts the brightness and increases it when turned on HDR is negated, but more realistic color reproduction and clarity in dark areas are quite noticeable.
OVERALL VISUAL GAME IMPRESSION |
Horizon Zero Dawn is a shining example of what developers can achieve with a straight hand and a desire to create. The graphics in the game are mesmerizing, especially with a huge 4K HDR monitor, you can fully enjoy all the delights of the game.
When choosing a platform PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 4 Pro for this game you need to be guided by the available TV. If you have regular FullHD, then there is no point in overpaying for PlayStation 4 Pro, and if you have a 4K TV, without it, alas, the picture will not be so clear.
GAME PROCESS |
Well, below are the first 13 minutes on the console itself PlayStation 4 Pro:
Disadvantages:
- platform only game PlayStation, which probably upsets many
Advantages:
- incredible graphics
- a huge and very original world
