For generations now, players have been battling hordes of demons in the Diablo series, and now it's your turn to join one of the pillars of the action/RPG genre. The most complete edition of Diablo III: Eternal Collection, which was released on Nintendo Switch, includes the Diablo III game, the Reaper of Souls expansion pack and the Return of the Necromancer bundle. Get ready, mortals! The Gates of the Underworld are opening...
TECHNICAL INFORMATION |
Diablo III: Eternal Collection has software version 2.6.2. When purchasing a game in a store Nintendo downloads it to a MicroSD card or internal memory.
The total size of the downloaded game is about 18 gigabytes, which corresponds to the PC version.
GAME ENGINE |
The game engine is a product of Blizzard's own development. There is practically no information on the network about the structure and development of this engine. Rather, the engine is a further development of the product line for games based on Blizzard’s own intellectual property.
We were unable to find detailed information other than our own visual observations.
CONTROL |
The control settings are standard, as for other consoles. Absolutely all buttons are used.
It is convenient to play in both portable and TV mode.
SETTINGS |
There are no graphics settings as such in the game, only changing gamma and brightness is available.
Well, then let’s see how the game differs from the PC version.
MODES COMPARISON between Nintendo Switch and PC |
Now let's compare it with the PC version of the project. The “maximum” settings of the PC version and console were taken as the basis.
As we can see, the maximum PC settings are comparable to the version for the Nintendo Switch. In the Nintendo Switch version, the camera is positioned closer for easier play in handheld mode.
COMPARISON OF TV AND PORTABLE MODE |
In this review, we presented comparisons of the rendering quality of stationary and portable modes:
As we can see, when switching to portable mode, the quality does not change at all and is at the same level.
OVERALL GAMING IMPRESSION |
Diablo III: Eternal Collections on Nintendo Switch is on par with older consoles and PCs in terms of graphics, making this game one of the best ports for this portable console. Of course, the game is 6 years old, but all the same, the job of transferring it to the portable version was done excellently.
We thought, of course, what else could surprise us with Diablo III, which has previously been studied inside and out? In stationary mode there is nothing surprising - everything is already familiar, but in portable mode the game gives a completely different sensation, especially while lying on a comfortable sofa...
The interface is quite convenient and you quickly get used to it after using the PC version of the game. It’s a bit of a pity that you can’t transfer all your characters and all your progress to the Nintendo Switch version, so let’s be patient and spend many, many hours in the game again...
No special shortcomings, bugs or crashes were noticed.
GAME PROCESS |
Well, below are 20 minutes of play on the console itself:
Disadvantages:
- price is the same as all games for Switch
Advantages:
- Diablo III is in your pocket!
- a great experience from playing in portable mode
- the graphics were absolutely not affected by porting
