Darksiders - Warmastered Edition: review on Nintendo Switch

Meet the re-release of the first part of the famous franchise and a more complete and detailed version of the events of what happened to the older brother from the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The game received updated graphics, improved visuals and acquired a more modern look.

You have to take control of War, who is accused of creating chaos on Earth, although he did nothing of the kind. However, the court needs evidence of his innocence, which means the Horsemen will have to go down to Earth and figure out what happened. They only have one day for everything.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Darksiders - Warmastered Edition has program version 1.0. When purchasing a game in a store Nintendo downloads it to a MicroSD card or internal memory.

The total size of the downloaded game is about 13 gigabytes, which is almost 2 times less than the size of the PC version.

GAME ENGINE

The game engine for Darksiders is a product of Vigil Games' own development and was ported to the Nintendo Switch by Kaiko. The engine was designed to run on PCs and current generation gaming consoles.

Unfortunately, we could not find more detailed information about the game engine, except for these press releases.

SETTINGS

There are no graphics settings as such in the game, but there are two modes to choose from: quality or performance.

MODES COMPARISON between Nintendo Switch and PC

Now let's compare it with the PC version of the project. The “maximum” settings of the PC version and console were taken as the basis. 

As we can see, the maximum PC settings are almost comparable to the version for the Nintendo Switch, but some details have been simplified.

OVERALL GAMING IMPRESSION

Darksiders - Warmastered Edition is an excellent port for the Nintendo Switch and the game lost absolutely nothing during the porting, neither in gameplay nor in graphics:

No special shortcomings, bugs or crashes were noticed.
