Dragon Age: The Veilguard will pave the way for the future of the franchise

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is not a direct sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition, but it sets the direction for the future of the franchise. BioWare employees reported this in an interview with Game Informer. The studio noted that the third part of the series was released 10 years ago, and not all players are familiar with its events.

The Veilguard references previous entries in the series, but focuses on a new story with new characters. BioWare emphasizes that each part of the series has always had a new main character and his entourage.

"We needed to make sure that people who had only played Inquisition understood what the series was really about. It's about a new main character, about change, about evolution, so that they weren't expecting a direct sequel. This game is something new, something evolving, something more,” explained ex-producer Mark Darragh.

The developers also reported that since the release of Inquisition they have significantly improved their skills in working with the Frostbite graphics engine. They are especially proud of the new unique animations that give the characters more personality. BioWare claims that the new companions are the most developed in the studio's history. They are the center and most important element of the story, not the main character/heroine.

The Veilguard promises to offer players a fresh take on the world of Dragon Age, while maintaining the spirit and traditions of the franchise.

Assassin's Creed Shadows will add deep romantic lines

The narrative designer of Assassin's Creed Shadows said that the game will have elaborate romantic lines. In the game, the main characters Yasuke and Naoe will be able to form relationships with several characters. These relationships will allow for deeper exploration of the characters' personalities and motivations.

Romantic relationships in the game will not distract from the main storyline, but, on the contrary, deepen it. Relationships will develop over time, and there will be both serious and lighter versions of romances. Players will be able to get to know the characters better and perhaps develop something more.

Designer Davis explained: "This won't be a dating sim, but a really serious relationship that will develop." He also noted that having two main characters would allow the game to show very different characters interacting with different people in the game world.

However, Davis did not specify how exactly the development of relationships with a particular character will affect the plot and gameplay. In previous games in the series, romantic lines were also present, but they most often served as the driving force of the plot. In Assassin's Creed Shadows, it seems they will be given more attention.

IGN showed gameplay of A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead

IGN published almost 10 minutes of full gameplay of the game A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, based on the popular A Quiet Place franchise. In the video you can see what kind of gameplay awaits gamers.

The main character named Alex is hiding from monsters that react to any sounds. The gameplay emphasizes the need to be as quiet as possible: open doors carefully, monitor the noise level using a device, and carefully watch your step.

Alex's illness complicates the situation - she has asthma. Players will have to use the inhaler in a timely manner, otherwise any cough could cost the heroine her life.

The game's release is scheduled for 2024. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

No Man's Sky has been updated to version 5.0 with support for NVIDIA DLSS 3

Hello Games has released update 5.0 for No Man's Sky (Worlds Update Part I), enabling support for NVIDIA DLSS 3 on PC. However, the studio used an old image for performance comparison that did not show the frame rate boost potential for the GeForce RTX 40 after enabling DLSS Frame Generation.

However, DLSS 3 can significantly improve frame rates. However, currently enabling Frame Generation degrades the game's smoothness and causes strange flickering. Hello Games is already working on a fix for this issue, and an experimental thread is available on Steam, but there is no fix for DLSS 3 yet.

Despite the team's departure, Microsoft said its commitment to D&I remains unchanged. Company spokesman Geoff Johns confirmed that Microsoft continues to prioritize diversity and inclusion despite changes to its organizational structure.

The leader of the fired team expressed dissatisfaction, saying the systems change work associated with DEI programs was no longer considered business critical. The team was axed as of July 1, but the exact number of employees affected was not disclosed.

Following the killing of George Floyd in 2020, many tech companies, including Microsoft, have made commitments to improve diversity efforts. Microsoft has pledged to double the number of black leaders at the company by 2025, but progress on that commitment remains unclear. Other tech companies such as Zoom, Google and Meta have also scaled back their DEI programs in recent years.

Warhorse Studios will give Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 to sponsors and improve NPCs

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will be given away for free to players who backed the original game on Kickstarter. Reddit user Interinactive shared an email from Warhorse confirming that he will receive the new game for free thanks to his support for the first game. Warhorse Studios confirmed this information, adding that a free version of the game will be available to backers who have invested a certain amount in the original project.

Interinactive said its support level was "Duke", which is equivalent to $200 or £125. In addition to the Duke, sponsors of the King, Emperor, Wenzel de Foll, Pope, Illuminatus and Saint levels will also receive a free version. These levels involve significant contributions made early in the development of the first game.

In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the developers focused on improving the NPC system. In the first part, each NPC had his own profession, daily routine and place of residence, which created the feeling of a living world. In the sequel, NPC behavior will become even more believable and dynamic. NPCs will react to events in the game, the player's behavior and his progress. Depending on their status and profession, NPCs will be able to fight back when attacked or violated.

The Warhorse team also brought in historians and swordsmen to create a more realistic medieval atmosphere. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is due out before the end of this year.
