| GAME ENGINE |
Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) is the fourth iteration of the Unreal Engine game engine created by Epic Games. Development of UE4 began taking into account the experience of using previous versions of the engine (Unreal Engine 1, 2 and 3) and a number of new technologies, such as the PhysX physics engine and the APEX animation system.
The engine was announced in May 2012 and released in September 2014. The main goal of developing UE4 was to provide developers with more powerful tools and capabilities to create games with a high level of detail and graphic quality.
One of the key changes in UE4 was a completely redesigned rendering system that provided realistic lighting and shadows. This was possible thanks to the introduction of Global Illumination technology, which takes into account the reflection of light from one object to another, creating a more believable environment.
Additionally, UE4 introduced an improved character animation system based on APEX technology. This allowed for more realistic and fluid character movements, and also made it possible to use dynamic interaction with the environment, such as the deformation of soft bodies.
Another important feature of UE4 is a flexible scripting system based on the Blueprints visual programming language. This allowed developers with no programming experience to create complex game mechanics by simply connecting blocks of logic in the engine editor.
Over the years, UE4 has continued to evolve, adding support for various platforms, including mobile devices and virtual reality. The engine also began to be used not only in game development, but also in other areas such as architectural visualization, training and production.
In May 2020, Epic Games announced Unreal Engine 5, which is supposed to be an even more powerful and advanced engine. However, to this day, UE4 continues to be one of the most popular and widely used game engines on the market. Developers receive constant updates and improvements such as performance optimizations, improved development tools, and support for new technologies.
Since its release, UE4 has become the basis for many successful games such as Fortnite, PUBG, Street Fighter V, and many more. These games demonstrate the power and flexibility of the engine, which is suitable for creating a variety of projects, from indie developments to large triple-A projects.
Thanks to Epic Games' licensing and availability policies, UE4 has become available to a wide range of developers. In 2015, the company eliminated the monthly fee for using the engine, providing it for free and then introducing only a small percentage of the profits made from sales of games built on it.
This has attracted many indie developers and studios who can experiment with different ideas and concepts without fear of restrictions and high licensing costs.

Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on the results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1920x1080, 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 with various anti-aliasing settings. By default, the graph displays the most current solutions. Other video cards are added and removed from the chart at the request of the reader.
