GAME ENGINE

Development history of The First Descendant

The First Descendant is an exciting multiplayer shooter with RPG elements developed by a South Korean studio Nexon Games. The game was originally announced under the working title Project Magnum and quickly attracted attention with its ambitious approach and high-quality graphics. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity battles alien invaders known as the Vulgus.

M1 Win64 Shipping 2024 07 10 01 53 19 707

Development of the game began with careful research into the shooter and role-playing genre, which allowed the team to create a unique hybrid gameplay. The First Descendant was officially unveiled at the PC Gaming Show in 2022, and since then the developers have been regularly sharing updates and trailers revealing story details and gameplay features. The main goal of the developers was to create a game that combines dynamic shooting, a deep character leveling system and an exciting cooperative mode. The developers paid special attention to the netcode and optimization to ensure a smooth and stable multiplayer experience for players around the world.

Graphics in The First Descendant

Graphics in The First Descendant amazes with its realism and detail. The game uses Unreal Engine 5, which provides developers with ample opportunities to create visually impressive game worlds. This engine allows you to create photorealistic textures, complex particle effects and dynamic lighting, which makes the game world alive and dynamic.

M1 Win64 Shipping 2024 07 10 02 05 21 987

The game's environments range from dense forests to ruined cities, each location is detailed and filled with fine details. High resolution textures and realistic lighting effects create deep and rich scenes, which is especially important for games of this genre. Technologies Lumen и nanite provide high quality global illumination and object detail, which makes scenes look realistic and vibrant.

Game engine

The First Descendant runs on the engine Unreal Engine 5, which provides high performance and allows you to implement complex graphic effects and animations. One of the key technologies used in the game is support DirectX 12, which allows you to make the most of the capabilities of modern video cards and processors.

M1 Win64 Shipping 2024 07 10 02 06 27 538

Basic technologies Unreal Engine 5 include Lumen, providing dynamic global illumination and realistic reflections, and nanite, which allows you to process millions of polygons in real time, increasing the detail of objects and the environment. This allows you to create realistic and impressive game worlds with high performance and graphics quality.

DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES

with ray tracing:

Using ray tracing in The First Descendant significantly improves the visual quality of the game, adding more realistic reflections, shadows and global illumination. Ray tracing provides more accurate and detailed lighting, making scenes look deeper and more vibrant. Surfaces such as water and glass look much more realistic thanks to accurate reflections of the environment.

No ray tracing:

Without ray tracing, the game all still maintains high quality graphics thanks to technology Unreal Engine 5. However, lighting and reflections will be less realistic and detailed. In such conditions, more simplified rendering methods are used, which still provide high-quality images, but with less depth and realism compared to ray tracing.

MSI Afterburner

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Below is a video of a test segment from the game:

Our video cards were tested at different screen sizes 1920x1080, 2560x1440 и 3840x2160 with maximum graphics quality settings.

GPU TEST

In the video card test, the default resolution is 1920x1080; other resolutions are added and removed manually. You can also remove and add any positions of video cards. You can also select any of our test processors from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given video card tests (by default, the most productive solution is selected). The test is carried out on the most powerful CPU in this game and is scaled to other processors, taking into account their testing on NVIDIA and AMD video cards.
