Video cards with 8GB of VRAM are rapidly becoming obsolete

Specialists PC Games Hardware conducted tests that showed that video cards with 8 GB VRAM no longer meet the requirements of modern games. Comparison AMD Radeon RX 7600 (8 GB) and RX 7600 XT (16 GB) revealed significant differences in performance, especially in demanding projects.

8gb

In games like Stalkers 2 и Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the RX 7600 showed catastrophically low results. The performance of the base model was all 25,3% и 22,5% from the level of the RX 7600 XT, respectively. Even in games with lower requirements, like Horizon Forbidden West, RX 7600 showed 28,7 FPS vs 51,3 FPS on RX 7600 XT at 1440p.

These results confirm that 8GB VRAM is not enough for processing modern textures, effects and high resolutions. RX 7600 XT with 16 GB storage provides smooth gameplay even at high and ultra settings, while the base RX 7600 increasingly faces limitations.

Conclusion: video cards with 8 GB VRAM are rapidly becoming obsolete despite their relatively fresh architecture. Buying models with more memory, such as the RX 7600 XT, is becoming a necessity for comfortable gaming in 2024.
