Sony Completes PlayStation 6 Processor Design
Company Sony completed work on processor design for next generation console PlayStation 6, an insider reported Kepler L2, known for leaks on AMD products. Development systems on a chip (SoC) completed and the preliminary inspection phase has begun. Chip test samples will be ready at the end 2025 years, and herself PS6 may go on sale in 2027 year.
GPU The console is based on modified AMD gfx13 architecture, also known as RDNA5 or UDNA. Sony has maintained its partnership with AMD, started with PS4, despite initial talks with Intel, which ended without result.
The RDNA 5 architecture promises significant gains in performance, power efficiency, and graphics capabilities to enable PS6 to meet the demands of next-generation gaming.
The next-gen console will arrive seven years after the launch of the PS5, which is in line with Sony's traditional development cycle. The PlayStation 6 is expected to be a major milestone in the evolution of gaming hardware and technology.
