RTX 3080 Ti Prototype with 20GB VRAM Sold on eBay for $1999
They put it up on eBay Rare Engineering Sample of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card with 20GB GDDR6X, which never made it to retail. The lot went under the hammer for $1999, despite the fact that the model belongs to the Ampere era and is not officially supported by NVIDIA drivers.
The video card is made in a Founders Edition case and is marked with a green sticker "Not for sale, for development only". According to the seller, the device is fully functional, but requires unofficial driver like NVIDIA-patcher, otherwise there may be problems with launching games and 3D applications.
Retail RTX 3080 Ti came out in 2021 with 12GB of memory and a 384-bit bus, while the 20GB version uses a 320-bit bus and reduced memory bandwidth - 760GB/s versus 912GB/s. Presumably, This configuration was developed as a response to the Radeon with more memory, but was cancelled due to strategic considerations.
So the engineering RTX 3080 Ti 20GB remains an enigma in the history of Ampere - and an extremely rare collector's item.
