NVIDIA is preparing GeForce RTX 5060 SUPER with 12 GB of GDDR7

Following the leak about 3GB GDDR7 chips in the RTX PRO 6000, it became known that NVIDIA Plans to Unveil GeForce RTX 5060 SUPER with 12GB of Memory as Early as Late 2025. It will be the first mainstream graphics card based on the Blackwell architecture, which will receive non-standard GDDR7 configuration - 3 GB per chip instead of the usual 2 GB.

RTX GeForce 5060 SUPER

According to engineering data, the RTX 5060 SUPER will use 4 x 7GB GDDR3 chips, which will give a total volume of 12 GB at 128-bit bus. Previously, such memory chips were — Samsung K4VCF325ZC — were only seen in the RTX PRO 6000 and mobile RTX 5090, where they were used for 24 and 48 GB configurations, respectively. These chips operate at frequencies up to 28 Gbps and allow you to increase the volume without expanding the number of memory channels.

It is important to note that all current desktop RTX 50xx use 2GB chips (K4VAF), and the 3GB chips were considered experimental. However, the PCBs of the models with Blackwell chips were originally designed to support these modules, and engineering videos and an official NVIDIA video from the beginning of the year confirm that the transition to 3 GB GDDR7 does not require a new architecture - only a change in the STRAP configuration and micro firmware.

If the RTX 5060 SUPER does come with 12GB of memory, it would solve one of the main issues with the base RTX 5060 (8GB), which has been criticized for not having enough capacity in modern games. This will also pave the way for future releases. RTX 5080 SUPER with 24GB и RTX 5090 SUPER with 48GB, who will be able to use the same 12 or 16 chips of 3 GB, without changing the board design.
