NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Coming in July — No GDDR7, Only GDDR6
According to current information, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Desktop Graphics Card will be officially unveiled in July 2025. Initial rumors indicated the possibility of using GDDR7 memory, however NVIDIA Confirms Desktop Version Will Stay on GDDR6. It is reported that AIC partners have already received updated documentation, which directly indicates the memory configuration of the new adapter.
The RTX 5050 is based on GB207 GPU, related to the Blackwell architecture. The internal product code is PG152-F01 SKU 50, which points to one of the younger models of the RTX 50 series. Initially, the GDDR6 supplier was Samsung, but SK Hynix will join the production in the future, thereby expanding the supply chain. This move demonstrates NVIDIA's intention to ensure stable supply volumes and reduce dependence on a single manufacturer.
Laptop versions of the RTX 5050 will indeed use GDDR7, which highlights the difference between the mobile and desktop lines. However, Desktop RTX 5050 Will Only Get GDDR6, and there are no plans to switch to GDDR7 in the near future. This may be due to the desire to maintain the lower price and power consumption typical for the entry-level segment of video cards.
