MSI Claw A8 Pre-Ordered — First Console with Ryzen Z2 Extreme

MSI officially opened Pre-orders for the Claw A8 portable gaming console, which became the first mass-produced device based on the new processor. AMD Ryzen Z2 ExtremeThe new product is already available for purchase in Chinese stores, and a full release is expected in the coming weeks.

Claw A8 is built on a hybrid architecture Zen 5 + Zen 5c, combining 3 productive cores with a frequency of up to 5 GHz and 5 energy-efficient cores at 3,3 GHz. The graphics are Integrated Radeon 890M with 16 RDNA 3.5 blocks, operating at a frequency of up to 2900 MHz. All this allows us to count on a noticeable increase in productivity compared to the previous generation on the Z1 Extreme and Intel Core Ultra.

The console is equipped with 8-inch IPS display 1920×1200 with 120Hz refresh rate, VRR support, brightness up to 500 nits and 100% sRGB coverage. Also announced are 24 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, M.2 2280 SSD with PCIe 4.0 support, a microSD slot, two 2 W speakers, Hi-Res Audio and DTS support.

The device comes with an 80 Wh battery, a module Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3 and USB4 Type-C, Thunderbolt 4, DisplayPort and PD 3.0 ports. The Claw A8 is powered by Windows 11 Home and comes in a 765g case.

At the start the price is 5949 yuan (approximately $830), but will rise to 6 yuan ($7000) from July 975. MSI has yet to reveal when the Claw A8 will be released outside of China., and the first batches will be available in limited quantities.
