Microsoft has started a forced update to Windows 11 versions 24H2

Microsoft officially announced the start of forced updating of devices with Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2 to version 24H2. The update became mandatory for "regular users", while controlled devices remain under the control of IT administrators.

Windows 11 24H2

Up to this point Windows 11 versions 24H2 was only available as an optional update, and devices affected by known bugs were unable to receive it. Now, the company says it has reached a "new phase of phased rollout" and is ready to scale up the update.

Key update details:

  • The forced update only affects devices that not having update blocks.
  • Users can set the reboot time to install the update or postpone the transition to the new version.
  • Devices with Windows 11 Copilot+ already come with version 24H2, however, a number of features such as Recall и Click To Do, remain available only to program participants Windows Insider.

Despite the active deployment, Windows 11 version 24H2 still has known issuesincluding:

  • Errors with Auto HDR;
  • Sound problems;
  • Game freezes;
  • "Blue Screens of Death" on ASUS devices;
  • Errors in applications using cameras and wallpapers.

Microsoft assures that affected devices will not be updated automatically until the bugs are fixed. However, users can manually initiate the update via Update centre Windows.

While Microsoft continues to work on fixing bugs, the large-scale rollout Windows Version 11 24H2 shows the company's confidence in the stability of the new update.
