Microsoft Declares 2025 as the Year of the PC Refresh Windows 11
Last year, Microsoft called it "the year of the PC." artificial intelligence", but now the company has shifted its focus. Microsoft Vice President Yusuf Mehdi said 2025 will be "the year updating PC with Windows 11". This initiative is aimed at accelerating the transition of users to the latest version of the operating system, especially considering that the support period Windows 10 ends on October 14, 2025.
According to Mehdi, old computers with Windows 10 are significantly inferior to new devices with Copilot Plus PC, which are up to five times faster. He also noted that the flagship Copilot Plus models outperform the Apple MacBook Air with the M3 chip by 58% in terms of speed. Microsoft is actively promoting its platform's AI features, such as Copilot, emphasizing their importance in improving user experience.
However, the campaign to attract people to Windows 11 is facing difficulties. Despite the end of support Windows 10 in the near future, the share of devices with this system increased to 62,7%, while the share Windows 11 dropped to 34%Users express irritation over pop-ups advertising the new OS.
Mehdi also announced an expansion of Microsoft’s AI capabilities, including the integration of Copilot into LG and Samsung TVs. Time will tell how much use this feature will have, but it’s clear that Microsoft is betting on AI to attract users to its ecosystem.
