Torvalds said: "I think AI is really interesting and can change the world. At the same time, I hate the whole hype cycle so much that I don't want to get involved with it. My approach to AI at the moment is to just ignore it because the whole AI industry is in a really bad place: 90% marketing and 10% realityIn 5 years, everything will change, and then we will see how AI will start to be applied to real-world tasks.”

These words caused a lively reaction in the community, as Torvalds is well known for his forthrightness. He noted that AI has its real applications, but at its current stage the technology is too focused on marketing and this prevents it from reaching the level of real workloads.

While other companies such as Microsoft, are actively implementing AI into their platforms, Torvalds is in no hurry to join this trend. The question is whether Linux catch this "train" or be left behind?
