Intel Core Ultra 5 245K "Arrow Lake" is a serious competitor for top CPUs: performance at the level of Core i9-13900K

Processor Intel Core Ultra 5 245K "Arrow Lake" has leaked online, showing a significant performance boost over the Core i5-13600K and almost matching the Core i9-13900K in single-core performance tests. This desktop-focused CPU is part of the Arrow Lake-S lineup, which includes Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5K expected to be released in October. All processors will feature an unlocked design and a base TDP of 245W, supporting the LGA 125 socket used by Intel's 1851-series motherboards such as the flagship Z800 chipset.

Core Ultra 5 245K

According to leaks, Core Ultra The 5 245K will be the successor to the Core i5-14600K, featuring 14 cores (6 P-Core and 8 E-Core) based on the Lion Cove and Skymont architectures, respectively. The base frequency of the chip will be 4,2 GHz with an overclock to 5,2 GHz, while there will be 24 MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 125 W.

The processor's performance is impressive, scoring 2248 in the single-core test and 18,354 in the Geekbench 5 multi-core test, beating the Core i9-12900K's scores. Despite the lower performance gain in single-core tasks (only 2% compared to its predecessor), the increase in multi-core tasks was 18.1%. Low single-core performance may be due to the fact that this chip is an engineering sample, which is often accompanied by unstable frequencies and incomplete realization of potential.
