Dell "dumps" Intel: Switch to AMD Ryzen AI Pro
Dell Technologies, one of the leading companies in the United States, announced the start of using AMD processors Ryzen AI Pro in its Dell Pro business PCs and laptops. The move marks a major step for Dell, which has previously relied heavily on Intel chips.
The announcement was made at CES 2025, where AMD showcased the success of its Ryzen AI Pro 300 series processors and above. These chips feature acceleration for working with neural networks (NPU), which ensures compatibility with Microsoft Copilot+ PC requirements and accelerates local processing of tasks related to artificial intelligence.
Additional features such as the second generation AMD Secure Processor and Cloud Bare Metal Recovery make AMD processors particularly attractive for enterprise environments. Dell notes that AMD's advances in technology, security, and management were a deciding factor in the move.
According to AMD, the company managed to achieve record 23,9% x86-compatible processor market last year. Dell's move to Ryzen AI Pro could further strengthen AMD's position in a market previously dominated by Intel.
