AMD Explores FSR 4 Support for RDNA 3
During CES 2025, AMD top manager Frank Azor shared news about possible support for the technology FSR4 for previous generations of video cards. This statement gives hope to owners GPU based on RDNA 3.
Frank Azor noted that AMD engineers are working on adapting FSR 4 for architecture RDNA 3, but compatibility cannot yet be guaranteed. According to him, the main limitation is related to the use machine learning, which requires a lot of computing power. This is the reason why FSR 4 technology is initially compatible only with video cards built on RDNA 4.
However, the AMD team is trying to optimize upscaler, so that it can run on the current generation of graphics cards. Azor emphasized: “We hope that we can solve this problem, but for now it is a work in progress.”
Gamers can only hope that AMD will be able to implement FSR 4 support on more devices, which will make upscaling technology more accessible to a wider audience.
