AMD introduced Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 A for portable gaming consoles

AMD Announces Two New Processors in Ryzen Z2 Series, aimed at portable gaming devices. The flagship was Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, supplemented dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) with a productivity of up to 50 TOPS. The second new product is Ryzen Z2 A, the youngest model in the line, based on the Zen 2 architecture.

Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme

Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme got 8 cores and 16 threads, graphics on RDNA 3.5 with 16 cores, support LPDDR5X-8000, TDP from 15 to 35 W and NPU with Microsoft Copilot+ support. This is the first and only chip in the line with a built-in AI accelerator, focused on local processing of machine learning tasks and system optimization.

Ryzen Z2 A is aimed at the budget segment and is equipped 4 Zen 2 cores, 8 RDNA 2 graphics cores, 6 MB of cache and LPDDR5-6400 memory. Its TDP from 6 to 20 W, making it more power efficient but also less productive than the Ryzen Z2 Go.

Z2 series chips are currently confirmed in Lenovo Legion Go S and Legion Go 2, and a new model from ASUS is also expected - probably a successor ROG Ally X.
