AMD Instinct MI500 Will Become the Answer to NVIDIA Rubin

At the Advancing AI event, AMD presented new generation of accelerators Instinct MI500, which will be built on TSMC's advanced 2nm (N2P) process technology and are aimed at competing with NVIDIA's Rubin architecture. These GPU are designed for high-performance AI systems and will use the latest packaging technologiesIncluding CoWoS-L.

In parallel, AMD is preparing new server processors EPYC "Verano", which also use the N2P process technology and will ensure full compatibility with MI500 within the solutions rack-scale level. This will be a response to the Rubin + Grace bundles in the NVL72 and NVL144 configurations from NVIDIA. The new AMD platform will evolve towards the Helio end-to-end rack-mount solutions using MI400 and EPYC "Venice".

According to preliminary information, Instinct MI500 will be scalable GPU with HBM4 support, as well as integration into modules with low latency and high computing density. Thus, for the first time, AMD intends to reach parity with NVIDIA not only in architecture, but also in the level of ready-made server solutions.
