AMD Preparing Radeon RX 9070 XT With 32GB VRAM
AMD is rumored to be developing a graphics card Radeon RX 9070 XT с 32 GB video memory, which, despite its impressive characteristics, will not be intended for professional tasks, but for gaming.
AMD has not yet released a single graphics card based on the architecture RDNA4, but the first models of the RX 9000 series are expected in March. In particular, RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 get 16 GB GDDR6. However, new information from an insider zhangzhonghao from Chiphell Forums talks about possible release of a 32GB version already in first half of 2025.
If AMD does indeed increase the VRAM capacity in twice, then this will require 16 modules of 2 GB GDDR6, half of which will have to be placed on the back side of the printed circuit board. This solution will significantly increase the cost cards, since 4GB GDDR6 chips are not yet produced.
In this case, the bus width will remain 256-bit, and the memory frequency is 20 Gbps, что означават, что bandwidth won't change. In theory, 32GB of memory looks impressive, but in games, such a quantity unlikely to give any growth. However, for tasks related to AI processing, large VRAM and LLM models, this configuration can be useful.
