Modding turns the RTX 5050 into a Franken5050 with overclocking to the level of the RTX 5060

TrashBench user was able to significantly improve performance GeForce RTX 5050, turning it into an unofficial version Franken5050, by modding the cooling system and flashing the BIOS. The key step was physically replacing the stock RTX 5050 cooler with a more massive RTX 5060 radiator, complete with additional GAMDIAS fans. To complete the modification, TrashBench used NVFLASH utility, which opened up additional power and frequency limits. The end result was an increase in frequency to 3.3 GHz and an increase in the power limit from 120 to 140 W, while the temperature GPU dropped from 70°C to 40°C.

RTX 5050 vs. 5050 OC

In benchmarks 3DMark Time Spy The modified card achieved 11,715 points, and in Shadow of the Tomb Raider the increase was over 29% compared to the stock RTX 5050. In games like Far Cry 6, Hitman 3 and Valhalla Franken5050 consistently outperformed the regular 5050 and approached 5060. Despite the success of the experiment, the author emphasizes that such an upgrade is completely voids warranty and requires technical skills.

However, the enthusiast showed that even the weakest RTX 50 series graphics card can unlock much more potential with the right approach. However, if you're not willing to take the risk, it's wiser to pay extra for a full-fledged RTX 5060 and get a boost in 30% without interventions.
