HighPoint Introduces 976TB External Drive with RAID Support and Speeds Up to 28GB/s
HighPoint announced RocketStor 6542AW External NVMe Storage System, which offers up to 976 TB of disk space and is aimed at professional tasks that require high throughput. The solution includes eight Solidigm D5-P5336 SSDs with a capacity of 122 TB each, combined into a RAID array with the stated data transfer rate up to 28 Gb/s.
The compact case measuring 23,5 x 12,3 x 23,5 cm is equipped with two fans and its own power supply. The front panel has eight removable bays for 2,5-inch U.2/U.3 drives, which excludes compatibility with conventional M.2 SSDs. Support is declared hot swap, as well as RAID 0, 1 and 10 arrays. The connection interface is CDFP, via the included Rocket 1544 adapter with a PCIe 4.0 x16 bus, providing a throughput of up to 32 GB/s.
The rear panel contains an Ethernet port, USB Type-C (limited to USB 2.0 speed), a USB mode switch, a Kensington lock, and controls. The device supports a control and notification interface, including the ability to turn off beeps.
The Solidigm D5-P5336 192-SSD kit is built on XNUMX-layer QLC NAND and showcases read speed up to 7400 MB/s and write speed up to 3200 MB/s. Although each disk individually is not a record holder, in RAID they produce a high total result. The configuration is suitable for data centers, working with large video arrays and backing up critical data.
HighPoint has not yet provided a final price for the 976 TB kit. However, preliminary calculations indicate that the final amount could reach over xnumx thousand dollarsThe RocketStor 6542AW case itself sells for $1799, and each SSD sells for $16.
