Chinese Modder Creates 6,7kg 'Laptop' With Desktop RTX 4090
A Chinese modder nicknamed “A Beginner Who Likes Overclocking” has created a unique device that can be called "laptop", but with some caveats. Its design included a desktop video card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, which significantly outperforms mobile counterparts. A custom system with a large number of fans is used for cooling, and the laptop itself requires a constant connection to the network, since the battery simply cannot cope with such power.
The modification is based on the Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, which is also installed in this unique device, making it extremely powerful. The modder used a motherboard ROG STRIX B650I Mini-ITX and used two planks DDR5-6800 memory of 32 GB. But the main element remains Desktop RTX 4090 Graphics Card with consumption 450 W, which allowed the most demanding games to be launched at a stable temperature 70°C.
This so-called "laptop" is actually a portable gaming station, although due to its weight - 6,7 kg without power supply and 8 kg with it — it's not that easy to carry it around. But still, such a "mobile" PC remains fully functional and capable of maximum performance. The modder also did everything possible to ensure that the system remains stable at such high capacities.
Despite all these impressive features, the device has no battery and requires constant connection to a power outlet, which limits its portability.
