Ubisoft introduces paid exclusives in "Star Wars Outlaws": mission with Jabba costs an additional $40
Ahead of the release of the new Star Wars Outlaws game, scheduled for August 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, Ubisoft is once again at the center of a scandal. The developers decided to cut some of the content from the standard edition of the game, offering it only as part of the more expensive Gold and Ultimate editions. This decision caused discontent among fans.
The mission "Jabba's Gambit", where the main character carries out a task for one of the most powerful crime lords in the galaxy, has become available only to those who are willing to shell out a minimum of $110 for the Gold Edition or $130 for the Ultimate. The cost of additional content turned out to be significant - for the opportunity to play an exclusive mission you will have to pay at least $40 extra compared to the standard version of the game.
Ubisoft's actions raise questions about the company's values and respect for its customers, who are forced to pay significantly more for the full gaming experience. Exclusive content in the form of a mission featuring one of the most famous Star Wars characters shows a desire to maximize profits at the expense of fan loyalty.
