Todd Howard responds to Starfield criticism and promises a major update

Todd Howard, a game designer at Bethesda Game Studios, commented on the criticism towards Starfield from part of the gaming community. Howard noted that audiences have long established certain expectations of Bethesda's RPGs, and Starfield deliberately deviated from the usual formula, which disappointed some players.

Howard emphasized that Bethesda understood the expectations of fans who wanted an experience from Starfield similar to the latest installments of Fallout or The Elder Scrolls. However, the development team had other goals in mind. "The content of [Starfield] is a little different than what we've done before. Each of our franchises needs to have its own personality," Howard explained.

The head of Bethesda Game Studios is confident that over time, some Starfield critics may change their minds by reviewing the game. But even if this does not happen, the game has already found its audience among new players who are not familiar with Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.

Currently, Bethesda Game Studios continues to actively work on Starfield. In May, the game received a major update that included support for 60 FPS on Xbox Series X. A major story expansion, Shattered Space, is planned to be released by the end of the year.
