Studios Refuse to Hire Sweet Baby Employees, Fearing Deterioration in Game Quality and Backlash from Gamers

The gaming industry is facing a new wave of criticism regarding the Sweet Baby studio. Former employees of the company, such as Kazuma Hashimoto and Cameryn Wilde, have found themselves at the center of the scandal, as their involvement in projects often causes negative reactions from gamers. Studios are now refusing to hire employees associated with Sweet Baby, fearing a deterioration in the quality of the games they develop and dissatisfaction of players.
Kazuma Hashimoto, who has previously worked with Ubisoft, Insomniac Games, and Square Enix, shared that employers avoid hiring him due to fears of reputational damage. The main reason for this attitude was his involvement in projects related to Sweet Baby, whose decisions on game mechanics and plot, according to many, negatively affect games.
"They're literally asking, 'Aren't we going to be laughed at for hiring you?' It's terrible because companies are worried about how gamers will perceive them, not the quality of the games," Hashimoto says.
Cameryn Wilde, who worked on projects such as God of War: Ragnarok и Alan Wake I, also expressed his frustration. In his presentation at the Game Developers of Color Expo, he talked about how his job was to create "safer" stories and inclusive game content. This, according to many players, weakens the storytelling of games and makes them less engaging.
The gaming community has been highly critical of Sweet Baby's intervention, pointing to the deterioration of gameplay and story quality in projects where their consultants worked. More and more studios are now afraid to hire former Sweet Baby employees, fearing that their intervention will lead to a drop in sales and a deterioration in user ratings.
