The end of exclusivity Call of Duty on PlayStation

Before Call of Duty became a symbol of partnership with PlayStation, the franchise had a long and productive relationship with Xbox. This first became apparent when Call of Duty 2 became exclusive for Xbox 360, never showing up PS3. Later in 2007, Microsoft made a major deal with Activision that gave Xbox players access to DLC a month earlier than others platforms, as well as exclusive content for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare This partnership has become legendary, but ended in 2015.

After that, the marketing rights were transferred to PlayStation, which provided its users with the following 9 years early access to maps, betas and exclusive content, starting with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. But with the recent acquisition Activision company Microsoft everything has changed.

The last ones expired on November 9, 2024 PlayStation exclusive contracts on Call of Duty, which was marked by the release of the operator and sets for Modern Warfare 3. Microsoft confirmed that in the future for Call of Duty will be observed parity between platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation and others. This means that no exclusivity for a specific platform — beta versions, maps and additional content will be available simultaneously on all devices.
