Days Gone Remastered: PC Version Improvements
will be released on April 25 Days Gone Remastered for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, but with it PC version owners get free update 1.08, which will add to the game all technological improvements from the console remaster. The remaster itself remains a paid service for PS5 users ($10 for an upgrade from the PS4 version), but the graphical changes will be available on PC at no additional cost.
The game still works on Unreal Engine 4, however the update adds significantly reworked visuals, which makes Days Gone relevant in 2025. Among other things, new atmospheric and lighting simulations, improved night scenes, reworked shadows and more complex indirect lighting effects are aimed at improving realism and visual immersion.
List of main technical changes, which will be included in the update:
-
Support Dualense with tactile feedback on PC.
-
New system atmosphere and sky with the ozone layer and spectral lighting.
-
Improved lighting, reflections and ambient occlusion.
-
Much darker than night, more contrast and drama in the lighting.
-
Increased shadow detailing — twice the resolution at maximum quality.
-
New accessibility settings and interface optimization.
Also on this day will be released Broken Road DLC ($10), which will add three new modes:
-
Assault on the Horde - dynamic battles with waves of enemies;
-
Permadeath mode;
-
Timed mode (Speedrun) with a table of records.
This DLC is paid and is not included in the free update.
Developers from Bend Studio emphasize that the goal of the remaster is not only to improve the visual quality, but also to remind about the underrated game, which at the time did not receive due attention. Days Gone Remastered is positioned as a re-release with serious technical improvements, and not just a transfer to the next generation. Perhaps its success will influence the future fate of the series - after all, Sony previously refused to continue and canceled the studio's next game.
