Bend Studio's Cancellation Renews Hopes for Days Gone Sequel
Sony Interactive Entertainment has decided to shut down the Bend Studio project that had been in development for several years. The news has left fans disappointed, but has also reignited speculation about the possible creation of sequel to Days Gone, a popular game of 2019.
As the user notes raincoat on the Reset Era forum, the years spent developing the cancelled game were effectively wasted. On social media, fans expressed mixed emotions: on the one hand, regret for the lost resources, on the other, hope for a return to the Days Gone franchise. One user noted:
"Bend could have spent those years creating a sequel to Days Gone, and even if it failed, the losses would have been much smaller."
Previously, leaked data suggested that Bend Studio was trying to pitch the concept Days Gone 2, but instead switched to working on a new brand, which has now been closed.
The gaming community is convinced that Days Gone sequel could be a safer and more profitable choice for Sony. One Reddit user writes:
"After spending all their money on a cancelled project, they can now bet on a proven franchise, and what better way than Days Gone 2?"
While Sony hasn't made any official statements about Bend Studio's future, the community is actively supporting the idea of returning to create a sequel. Success Days Gone on PC and fans' constant requests for a sequel only confirm the high interest in the franchise. The only question is whether Sony is ready to give the project a second chance.
