Sweet Baby Inc. Claims Game Studios Are Seeking Consulting
Company Sweet Baby Inc. found herself in the spotlight after accusations from gamers in the deterioration of game plots due to the imposition of elements inclusivity and diversity. However, as explained Grant Roberts, the company's former narrative director, it is the game studios themselves who turn to Sweet Baby to improve storylines and make their projects more high-quality. In an interview with The Gamer, Roberts emphasized that Sweet Baby does not impose its ideas, but acts as a consultant at the request of developers. Roberts clarified that the collaboration occurs at the initiative of the studios themselves, striving for deeper and more detailed stories.
However, controversial statements from some Sweet Baby employees added fuel to the fire. One of them said that the company wanted to "burn down the gaming industry", which increased criticism and mistrust among players. Moreover, the head of the company, Kim Belair, said that in some cases studios are allegedly blackmailed into hiring their services, as allegedly happened with developers Black Myth: WukongIn this case, Sweet Baby was rumored to have demanded a huge sum for her services, threatening to ruin the game's reputation otherwise.
While inclusion and diversity are often viewed positively, their artificial implementation has generated negative reactions from gamers. Gamers fear that excessive third-party influence, even when addressed by the studios themselves, can distort the original idea and make games bearers of ideas alien to them, causing divisions in the community.
