Resident Evil Requiem to debut at Gamescom 2025 with open levels and improved combat
Next week Resident Evil Requiem will be available to play for the first time on Gamescom 2025, and the interest of fans continues to grow. It is officially known that the project supports dynamic switching between first and third person views, which required a large-scale reworking of the mechanics. The game uses a new lighting and shadow engine, as well as hair rendering technology from Pragmata. Particular attention is paid to the enemy artificial intelligence system, allowing stalkers to act unpredictably and adapt to the situation.

According to recent leaks, the project was originally conceived as a completely open world, but the final version implemented open levelsIncluding Raccoon City, which can be navigated using special transport. The developers are actively optimizing performance in these areas to avoid problems observed in other large-scale projects. It is also reported that the combat system of the Leon segments has received significant improvements, partially inspired by The Last of Us Part II, but with original innovations.
For the heroine Grace Ashcroft, the only confirmed protagonist at the moment, the developers have introduced expanded opportunities for interaction with the environment. Players will have to use physical objects and balance between light and darkness to cope with threats. According to the plot, Grace, being an FBI analyst, goes to Raccoon City to investigate a series of mysterious deaths in the hotel where her mother died eight years ago. The possible appearance of other heroes, including Leon, has not yet been confirmed, but the traditions of the series leave room for surprises.
