Pillars of Eternity now features a turn-based combat mode, offering complete tactical freedom and a new turn system.
The RPG Pillars of Eternity now has a full-fledged turn-based A combat mode that allows you to play through the entire game with an emphasis on tactical planning. The new control option replaces the real-time mechanics with pause, giving the player full freedom in decision-making in each round. You can select the mode when starting a new game or switch it in the settings at any time.
The main difference of the new approach is the rigid binding of allx Action to the move system. Each character's move now depends on the overall speed, making this parameter strategically important. All auxiliary actions—switching weapons, using potions, activating abilities—are now free, but with a limitation: each is allowed only once per round for the corresponding type. This maintains balance and makes every choice meaningful.
To increase tension, the developers have reworked the behavior of enemies, increasing lethality Battles have become faster and more dangerous for all participants, which is especially noticeable in the tactical mode. The new format makes tactics more transparent and gives players more control over the gameplay. Public testing of the mode begins on November 5, and anyone can experience the updated combat system in action.
