Moon Studios founder criticizes Dragon Age: The Veilguard for excessive political correctness and a "tasteless" script
Thomas Mahlerfounder Moon Studios and creator of the Ori duology, shared his opinion on gaming trends, criticizing the excessive political correctness of modern projects. Recently, after viewing the script elements Dragon Age: The Veilguard, he noted that such games remind him of the times when TV programs tried to be "as politically correct as possible" and devoid of difficult topics. Mahler, who grew up in the 80s, believes that most TV shows back then were "junk" content that avoided real issues in order to please a wide audience.
In his opinion, the scenarios Dragon Age: The Veilguard appear "impersonal and inhumane," and a writer's job is to draw people into the world he creates with sincerity and depth. He noted that the success of cult series like The Sopranos or The Wire was due to their courage in touching on serious topics, which made the characters more realistic and relatable.
Mahler believes that art suffers when creators avoid risky topics, relying on political correctness. In his view, real stories should be built from a "human point of view", reflecting the personal experiences of the authors. He urged creators not to be afraid of "making mistakes", as this is what leads to the creation of truly memorable and unique works.
