AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) today introduced the AMD Radeon™ RX 5500 XT graphics card, powered by the revolutionary, powerful AMD RDNA gaming architecture. The new product offers up to 8 GB of memory and innovative driver technologies AMD Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition, taking 1080p gaming to a new level of performance.
The AMD Radeon™ RX 5500 XT graphics card joins the AMD Radeon™ RX 5500 series GPU lineup announced in October. The new product is optimized to provide high-performance gaming at 1080p resolution in AAA games and e-sports disciplines. Built on the cutting-edge 7nm process technology, the graphics card supports PCIe® 4.0, high bandwidth, and is available with 4GB or 8GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory. The AMD Radeon™ RX 5500 XT delivers an average of up to 13% faster performance in today's AAA games than the competition, delivering up to 60+ FPS in select AAA titles and up to 90+ FPS in select esports titles.
“Today, more than 64% of gamers play at 1080p, and they expect high frame rates with excellent graphics quality, low latency and an immersive gaming experience,” said Scott Herkelman, corporate vice president and general manager of AMD's Radeon Technologies Group. “We designed the AMD Radeon™ RX 5500 XT graphics card to meet these needs, delivering the power and energy efficiency of AMD RDNA graphics architecture at an affordable price so gamers everywhere can enjoy incredible frame rates and crisp visuals in the games they love.”
Delivering industry-leading performance and power efficiency, the AMD Radeon™ RX 5500 XT graphics card offers many of the superior features and technologies of the AMD Radeon™ Adrenalin 2020 Edition driver for smooth, immersive 1080p gaming experiences:
• AMD RDNA Architecture. AMD RDNA gaming architecture is designed to deliver superior performance, scalability, and power efficiency. It delivers up to 1,6 times the performance per watt compared to Radeon™ graphics cards based on the previous generation Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture.
• AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag: AMD Radeon Anti-Lag technology significantly reduces input lag, including up to 22% more responsive gameplay in Overwatch and offering a competitive edge in gameplay.
• AMD Radeon™ Boost. The feature provides up to 20% performance improvement in fast-paced PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) game scenarios. This is achieved by dynamically reducing image resolution, increasing frame rates, and increasing response speed with virtually no change in image quality.
• AMD Radeon™ Image Sharpening (RIS). Improves the clarity of images softened by upscaling and post-processing effects in DirectX® 9, 11, 12 and Vulkan®. Combined with Radeon™ GPU scaling, RIS technology delivers crisp visuals and smooth frame rates on high-resolution displays.
• AMD FidelityFX: Offers game developers an open-source toolset that enables them to create high-quality post-processing effects that help make games look beautiful, while offering the optimal balance of visual fidelity and performance. Available for download at GPUOpen includes Contrast-Adaptive Sharpening (CAS), which brings out details in low-contrast areas while minimizing artifacts caused by image sharpening procedures.
• The largest ecosystem of gaming monitors. With AMD Radeon FreeSync™ and Radeon FreeSync™ 2 HDR technology, supported on more than 900 certified monitors,12 gamers can enjoy smooth, stutter-free gameplay.
