Intel Core i7-11700KF Rocket Lake-S processor appeared in the Ashes of the Singularity database

Does the Intel "Rocket Lake-S" Core i7-11700KF processor have a base frequency of 3,6 GHz?
The Ashes of the Singularity benchmark database doesn't provide too many details about the hardware that is listed after each run. However, it confirms what is tested by reviewers or computer hardware manufacturers.

The new processor that has just arrived is the 11th generation Intel Core processor. Core i7-11700KF. According to the listing, this CPU is an eight-core processor with 16 threads enabled. Unfortunately, the listing doesn't include a maximum boost clock as AotS doesn't have such a specification. However, the processor name bar contains basic information about the base frequency, and it looks like the 11700KF will have a base frequency of 3,6GHz, which is 100MHz higher than the rumored i9-11900K.

The KF option means that the CPU does not include integrated graphics. Rocket Lake-S processors feature Gen12 Xe-LP graphics, so disabling them basically removes one of the processor's key features.

The Core i7-11700 processors will be based on the Cypress Cove architecture, which is considered a reworking of the Intel Ice Lake processor. Codenamed Rocket Lake-S, the processors will be compatible with existing 400 series motherboards that already have an LGA1200 socket, although a BIOS update may be required. Intel will also release its 500 series chipset, which will fully support the PCI Express Gen4 interface.

Intel is expected to unveil its 11th-generation Core processors at CES 2021, with availability scheduled for March.

MSI Unveils AERO RTX 3090

MSI Revives Fermi Design and Unveils GeForce RTX 3090 AERO

MSI took inspiration from the 480-year-old GTX 11 graphics card. The new AERO series is MSI's entry-level series with a fan-based cooling design. The AERO RTX 3090 is a dual-slot model that should perform better in most NVLinked builds (if any) compared to 2,5 or 3-slot designs.

The graphics card released today by MSI has a reference clock speed of up to 1695 MHz. However, the card doesn't have a reference board design, essentially it's a full-size PCB with no exposed areas like we saw on the NVIDIA RTX A6000, which has a vent behind the fan.

You might also be interested in the back panel, which covers only half the length of the card (30 cm). The rear panel is necessary for the RTX 3090 graphics cards, since the model is equipped with dual-sided memory, which still needs to be cooled. When it comes to the other components that are clearly visible on the back, it's probably not that big of a deal, but to be honest, it looks pretty weird.

The MSI RTX 3090 AERO has four display connectors, including 3x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1x HDMI 2.1. The card is powered by a pair of 8-pin power connectors and has a power consumption rating of 350W.

Sony removes Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation store

Last week at CD Projekt Red headquarters was very tense and nervous. The game developer decided to launch his game on multiple platforms at the same time, and this decision had unintended consequences. As it turns out, the company abused the trust of customers who were looking forward to a true next-gen open world, only to end up with a game that was riddled with bugs or severely unfinished and not optimized for last-gen consoles.

CD Projekt Red has announced that unsatisfied customers can request a refund from the store where the game was purchased. Naturally, this type of return works much earlier for digital purchases, but physical copies should also have a return policy depending on where the game was purchased.

Social media was filled with messages from people who were denied a refund. Instead, they were asked to wait for a patch. This was inconsistent with CDPR's statement, which felt that the process should be easy given how poorly optimized the game they released was. The developer released a statement today saying that both the developer and Sony have agreed to suspend sales of the game through the PlayStation Store. The game will most likely return as soon as all the major bugs are fixed. However, no one, including CDPR, knows when this will happen.

Cyberpunk 2077 tested with GeForce RTX 30 and Radeon RX 6000 video cards

1 1 cyberpunk 2077 keanu reeves 1920    1 2 cyberpunk 2077 review night city 9

Cyberpunk 2077

An article from Tom's Hardware talks about the GPU performance in the latest RPG/FPS game from CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk 2077. The official launch of the game is scheduled for December 10, but today the developer is lifting the embargo on game reviews.

Cyberpunk 2077 supports ray tracing and ultra-high resolution technologies. Regarding the latter, only NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is available, as AMD has not yet released its FidelityFX super resolution for any game. Ray tracing is only supported by NVIDIA RTX graphics cards at launch, but support for Radeon RX 6000 will also be coming in the future. The game has various DLSS options, but the default settings are: Quality at 1080p, Balanced at 1440p, and Performance at 4K.

Tom's Hardware's testing platform features an Intel Core i9-9900K processor, with separate tests using the now ancient quad-core Core i7-7700K processor. Please note that the version tested by Tom's Hardware has Denuvo enabled, which may impact performance. The GOG Galaxy version of the game will be released without DRM, which may impact GPU and CPU performance.

Cyberpunk 2077 at average resolution 1080p

Since there are a lot of settings, Tom's hardware charts can be a little confusing at first because there are a lot of different graphics settings in the game, so here's a quick legend:

Legend of average charts

  • NVIDIA Graphics Cards
  • NVIDIA Ray Traced Graphics Cards
  • AMD Graphics Cards
  • RTM - Ray Tracing Framework
  • RTU - Ray Tracing Ultra (enhanced with RT reflections and better lighting)

Cyberpunk 2077, seems to be CPU limited at 1080p and 1440p resolutions. There also appears to be a 104-108fps wall that no graphics card in this review can break. At 1080p, the Radeon RX 6800XT delivers better performance, but once the resolution increases to 4K, NVIDIA GPUs gain a clear advantage:

 1 3 Cyberpunk 2077 1080p Medium     1 4 Cyberpunk 2077 4K Medium

Cyberpunk 2077 at medium settings 1920 × 1080 (left) and 3840 × 2160 (right)

Cyberpunk 2077 in 4K Ultra

Those who may have already purchased Radeon RX 6000 graphics or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 cards will most likely be using the higher resolution and, if possible, will visually benefit from ray tracing with DLSS enabled. At launch, only the NVIDIA GPU supports both. AMD RX 6000 cards should get ray tracing support later.

Legend Ultra graphs:

  • Native results (without DLSS)
  • DLSS quality
  • DLSS balanced
  • DLSS Performance
  • DLSS Ultra Performance
  • [Rast] - Rasterization (no ray tracing)

At 4K resolution, none of the graphics cards are capable of delivering 60 frames per second with the preset Ultra. In this rasterization test without ray tracing or DLSS, the GeForce RTX 3090 is 36% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 XT. The RTX 3090 with ray tracing set to Medium simply doesn't play at 26,7 FPS, this is of course without DLSS enabled.

 1 5 Cyberpunk 2077 4K Ultra

Cyberpunk 2077 in resolution 3840 × 2160 Ultra

Various DLSS settings have been extensively tested by Tom's Hardware. It turned out that with the ray tracing settings Ultra only RTX 3090 can break the 60+ FPS barrier with DLSS set to quality Ultra Performance

The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is not included in this table because it does not support either of the two technologies.

 1 6 Cyberpunk 2077 4K Ultra RT DLSS

Cyberpunk 2077 in resolution 3840 × 2160 Ultra, settings with ray tracing and DLSS

There are other graphics available in the original article, which we encourage you to check out. The game is already available for pre-load on Steam. NVIDIA launch drivers will also be available when the game is released, while the reviewer will be using a pre-release graphics driver. Tom's Hardware will be repeating their test with a DRM-free version and updated AMD and NVIDIA drivers. GPU at some point in the future.

The RTX 3060 Ti also supports a trio of GeForce gaming innovations: NVIDIA DLSS acceleration technology with deep learning algorithms, now available in more than 25 games; NVIDIA Reflex technology reduces system latency (input lag), making games more responsive to give players an extra edge over their opponents in competitive multiplayer games; and NVIDIA Broadcast, a suite of advanced AI-powered audio and video technologies to enhance online broadcasts, including virtual backgrounds and noise removal tools that users can use during chats, Skype calls and video meetings. Therefore, with the new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards, gamers will be able to rediscover popular gaming hits, including Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Watch Dogs: Legion.

ROG Strix: take off!

ROG STRIX RTX3060Ti 2D

The ROG Strix GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards contain many innovations in the design of the cooling system. Three Axial-tech fans are protected by a new casing with metal elements. The 13-blade center fan uses a full-height limiter ring to help the fan generate increased static pressure and increase airflow between the heatsink fins and towards the GPU heat spreader. The two outer fans each have 11 blades and half-height restrictor rings for improved side dispersion and increased airflow through the grille. Turbulence created by the fans is minimized by rotating the central fan in the opposite direction to the other two fans.

Taking into account the increased air flow, a massive radiator was specially designed, filling most of the 2,9-slot thick graphics card case. MaxContact technology, which involves high-precision polishing of the radiator base, helps to increase the efficiency of heat transfer from the graphics chip to the radiator. Having a smoother surface than conventional radiators, the base of such a radiator provides an increased contact area with the chip, and therefore better heat transfer. In addition to the cooling system, improvements have also affected the element base: high-quality capacitors, chokes and power modules easily deliver hundreds of watts of power in a matter of milliseconds. ROG Strix GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards use Super Alloy Power II components, which are soldered using an exclusive automated production process called Auto-Extreme.

The new video cards have connectors for connecting case fans with PWM control (FanConnect II technology). Their speed changes based on the temperature of the CPU and GPU, which provides additional air supply or exhaust when working with resource-demanding applications. The presence of a hardware Dual BIOS switch allows enthusiasts to quickly select the desired mode with settings that meet, for example, maximum performance or minimum noise. Another easy-to-use feature is the built-in voltage monitoring circuitry, which allows you to monitor the voltage on the power supply bus. This fast circuit can recognize any transients that cause a significant drop in bus voltage. If problems with the power supply are detected, the red LED lights up, making it easier to find the cause of the failure.

The video cards feature an updated design with support for RGB backlighting, customizable using the utility Armory Crate. An additional level of strength is provided by the metal frame, as well as the metal reinforcement plate on the back of the device. The reinforcement plate has a wide ventilation hole through which hot air from the video card is removed by exhaust case fans. A mounting bracket is located under the graphics processor, ensuring constant pressure between the chip and the base of the radiator. To protect the ports and ensure reliable fastening, the back panel of the video cards is made of stainless steel.

TUF Gaming: reliability guaranteed

TUF RTX3060TI 2D light

TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards deliver exceptional performance and efficient cooling. The new all-metal casing houses three powerful axial fans with durable double bearings. Turbulence created by the fans is minimized by rotating the central fan in the opposite direction to the outer ones, in addition, at low temperatures all three fans stop completely. Separate GPU and memory heatsinks located underneath provide efficient heat dissipation and temperature control.

According to the TUF Gaming concept, this line of video cards uses special Super Alloy Power II components to increase reliability and durability. Graphics cards in this line are soldered using the exclusive automated production process Auto-ExtremeTo ensure flawless operation of the graphics card, each one undergoes an intensive 144-hour test.

The reinforcement plate has a wide ventilation hole through which hot air from the video card is removed by exhaust case fans. Under the graphics processor is a mounting bracket that ensures constant pressure between the chip and the radiator base. To protect the ports and securely fasten, the back panel of the video cards is made of stainless steel. Conveniently located Dual BIOS switch allows you to configure the standard performance profile of the video card without using special software.

ASUS Dual: speed and efficiency

DUAL RTX3060TI 2D

The ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card uses innovative cooling technologies borrowed from flagship graphics cards, making it an ideal choice for building a balanced configuration. A pair of time-tested Axial-tech fans provide optimal directional airflow for high-quality cooling, and the fans automatically stop at low temperatures. Automated production process Auto-Extreme Helps reduce heat load and energy consumption. To protect the ports and securely mount, the back panel of the video cards is made of stainless steel.

The ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is designed for gamers, content creators and enthusiasts who require the ultimate in graphics card reliability.

ASUS Dual MINI: compact design, modern characteristics

DUAL RTX3060TI MINI image1light

The new ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 Ti MINI graphics card is specially designed for small format systems and mini-PCs Intel NUC 9 and Intel NUC 9 Pro. With a length of less than 20 cm, Dual MINI offers wide compatibility with compact cases and exemplary thermal performance. It is equipped with an original two-slot cooling system consisting of a large radiator and two Axial-tech fans. In addition to powerful cooling, reliability is also enhanced by the automated production process (Auto-technology).Extreme), making Dual MINI the ideal choice for compact systems.

ASUS KO: total knockout

KO RTX3060TI 2Dlight

The ASUS KO GeForce RTX 3060 Ti builds on the foundation laid by the ASUS Dual with a redesigned shroud, premium fan bearing lubricant, long-life capacitors, and a vented reinforcement plate. The front of the shroud features gold and silver accents with adjustable full-color lighting that can be customized using Aura software.

Cooling is handled by a large heatsink that takes up most of the 2,7-slot graphics card, while the backplate on the back of the unit features a vent to prevent heat buildup. The dual Axial-tech fans spin on sleeve bearings immersed in high-quality grease, which increases durability and provides a quieter acoustic profile than a dual-ball bearing design. The board components are assembled using an automated manufacturing process (Auto-Extreme) and include capacitors rated to last 2,5x longer than industry standards. The combination of distinctive design, powerful cooling, and durability makes the KO GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards ideal for gamers looking to build a flashy rig for gaming and showcasing.

AMD Radeon RX 6800XT Shows Performance Improvement on Intel Z490 with Smart Access Memory Enabled

AMD Smart Access Memory

AMD Smart Access Memory is the marketing name for a technology that has existed in PCIe specifications since the second generation of the interface. AMD took advantage of a feature that wasn't really on the radar of anyone outside of the Linux or server communities. With Smart Access memory, the processor can use GPU memory through an extended base address register. Some motherboards already offered this option with the "Re-Size BAR" or "Resizable Base Address Register" feature.

Recently the new BIOS from ASUS for their Z490 motherboard included this option. Simply by enabling this feature in the BIOS, AMD Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs should automatically take advantage of this feature. A Japanese ASCII site decided to test this BIOS.

AMD never said that this feature would be exclusive to Radeon RX 6000 GPUs and Ryzen 5000 processors. However, these product lines are listed as supported on the technology page simply because AMD has tested them (so far). Another reason is obviously the marketing and sales of their next generation equipment, which is completely out of stock at the moment.

Meanwhile, other vendors are working to enable this feature for their equipment. Support for other processors, motherboard chipsets and, of course, video cards is expected. NVIDIA also confirmed that it is developing a similar feature for its video cards.

ASCII SAM tests on Intel Z490 motherboards

On the ASUS ROG Maximus XII EXTREME with firmware 1002 (released November 27), an ASCII editor was able to enable the Re-Size Bar feature in the Advanced tab of the motherboard BIOS.

The editor uses an Intel Core i9-10900K and a reference Radeon RX 6800 XT with the feature enabled and then disabled to see if there is any improvement. It is worth noting that SAM does not always provide a noticeable performance boost, even on the Ryzen 5000 / Radeon 6000 platform. However, the editor only tested games where SAM has been proven to provide such a boost: Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Forza Horizon 4, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Rainbow Six Siege.

Official statements regarding SAM performance improvements on AMD Ryzen 5000 / Radeon 6000 platform

Assassin's Creed Valhalla (1920×1080, highest)

This feature shows a 1% improvement in both minimum and average frame rates:

1 7 ASCII Assassins Creed Valhalla

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT with SAM on Intel Z490 platform

Forza Horizon 4 (2560×1440, Ultra)

The editor initially tested Forza Horizon 4 at 1080p, but the results were CPU-bound and showed minimal gains. Although frame rates GPU-min/avg is indeed higher, fps-avg (actual rendering frame rate) does not show much improvement. On the other hand, the WQHD test shows visible improvement (note that the table incorrectly states 1920×1080 resolution):

 1 8 ASCII SAM Forza Horizon 4 1440p

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT with SAM on Intel Z490 platform

Red Dead Redemption 2 (1920 × 1080)

With Re-Sizable BAR enabled, the minimum frame rate increases significantly:

 1 9 ASCII SAM RDR2 1080p

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT with SAM on Intel Z490 platform

Rainbow Six Siege (1920×1080, highest settings, 100% render scale)

Rainbow Six Siege shows an improvement in the minimum frame rate with a minimal increase on average:

 1 10 ASCII SAM Rainbow 1080p

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT with SAM on Intel Z490 platform
