In addition, the monitor market in Europe has grown for the fifth year in a row since the first quarter of 2016, according to the most recent analysis from Context. In the first quarter of 2020, the monitor market grew by 5% compared to the first quarter of 2019. Brands AOC и MMD (license partner Philips Monitors), owned by TPV, one of the world's leading manufacturers of monitors and LCD TVs, more than doubled, increasing sales by 12,3%. In an ever-growing and highly competitive market, the combined market share of both brands ensures their entry into top three leaders since the first quarter of 2018 with a total market share of 14,9%.
With the highly successful and award-winning G1 and G2 series gaming monitors, as well as the latest AGON 3 models from the AGON premium gaming series, AOC has to first position in the monitor market with high refresh rates (100 Hz and above), gaining a market share of 28,3% and increasing sales by an impressive 40% compared to the first quarter of 2019.

Together, AOC and MMD more than doubled sales of such devices, achieving a growth rate of 47,4% compared to the same period last year. Philips 439P9H: 32:10 aspect ratio, 3840x1200, DisplayHDR 400, USB-C dock
The overall monitor market continues to grow on several fronts. Volume of sales high resolution models (QHD and UHD) worldwide in the first quarter of 2020 increased by 40% compared to the first quarter of 2019. This means a gradual abandonment of users from the now familiar Full HD resolution. In addition, displays UltraWide and SuperWide (with aspect ratios of 21:9, 32:9 and 32:10) such as the 34-inch AOC CU34G2X, 43-inch Philips 439P9H or 49-inch 499P9H are becoming increasingly popular due to the capabilities they provide. Global sales growth for these monitors was 100% year on year. Curved displays are also becoming increasingly common, with the market growing 63% year over year. Demand large monitors has especially increased in business environments where productivity is critical. The 27-inch diagonal becomes the new standard. Larger displays usually also come with all the latest technologies, which promotes ease of use and increased productivity. In particular, we are talking about the presence of monitors USB-C docking stations with Gigabit Ethernet ports, MultiView functionality (Picture-In-Picture capabilities) and KVM switches.
In the gaming sector Demand for high refresh rates continues. The market for 100Hz and higher monitors grew by 60%, while the market for 144Hz and higher monitors grew by 76% year over year.
Growth AOC during this period (a 13,9% year-on-year increase in sales volume) is certainly due to the wide range of monitor models for gaming enthusiasts, hardcore and professional eSports athletes. These solutions have excellent features including high refresh rates, fast response times and curved panels for an immersive gaming experience. AOC's growth is also based on its competitive and well-equipped models for the commercial and government sectors. These are series such as B1 (Basic), E1 (Essential) and P1 (Professional). Large screen diagonals in the gaming and business lines (for example, in the case of the P1 series) also contributed greatly to AOC's sales growth (89,1% year on year).
Sales growth Philips made possible thanks to “green” products like the 271B7QGJEB model, as well as the introduction of innovative solutions. Such as built-in USB-C docking stations with Ethernet ports, PowerSensors to reduce power consumption, and pop-up webcams for increased security and ease of use, such as instant login via Windows Hello.
The Philips Monitors brand has the widest range of USB-C models (with a 12,27% market share in this segment), ranging from simple USB-C connections to built-in USB-C docking stations with Ethernet connectors and power delivery. In this segment, Philips Monitors sales grew 14% year-on-year and 40% quarter-on-quarter. In addition, console gaming monitors from the Momentum line, such as the 32-inch 326M6VJRMB and the flagship 43-inch 436M6VBPAB, have contributed to MMD's growth. Finally, SuperWide models like the 439P9H (32:10) and 499P9H (32:9), equipped with all the features users need (large screen sizes, pop-up webcams, PowerSensors and USB-C docking stations), have become a significant growth factor for MMD. In the segment of monitors with diagonals from 43” to 49”, the brand ranks third in the market.
In addition, one of the factors contributing to the increase in sales of Philips Monitors is the 10-point touch displays from the B9T series, aimed at the B2B sector. They are dust and moisture resistant (IP65), suitable for outdoor use and are perfect for the HoReCa segment, retail trade and the educational sector.
“In the most recent quarter, growth of the AOC and Philips Monitors brands again outpaced overall market growth. With both brands, we closely monitor consumer needs.
