Death Stranding from Kojima Productions is the most anticipated game of the year. Gamers began to build theories about the new creation of Hideo Kojima from the moment the first teaser of the game was presented. What does the main character do? What strange embryo is he carrying with him? What kind of creatures leave imprints on the earth?

Crazy trailers, famous actors and constant hints from the genius himself continue to fuel the excitement around the game.
With just a little time left before Death Stranding launches exclusively on PlayStation 4, it's time to prepare for the mind-bending mysteries, eccentric characters and theatrical dialogue. We've rounded up five games to get you in the right mood for Death Stranding.
· Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the latest game in the Metal Gear series, made with the participation of the maestro. This project capped his nearly 30-year career at Konami.
MGS V is a typical game from Hideo Kojima, with signature direction, addictive gameplay and a completely crazy plot with sharp turns, seasoned with well-known irony.
It's also simply a fun open-world action-adventure game that will take around 60 hours to complete. Capture enemy bases, use high-tech gadgets and cardboard boxes in battle, wander through the desert and jungle... Oh, and one more thing: pay close attention to the spy, whom you can save in one of the side missions. It might look familiar to you!
· Control
Control is called “a video game in the spirit of David Lynch’s films,” and this nickname is one hundred percent justified. If you don't have enough riddles, brain-breaking secrets and intrigues, Control will completely quench this thirst.
In this third-person shooter, you lead an organization that studies paranatural phenomena similar to the cataclysm in Death Stranding. The theme and atmosphere of the game fully explain the choice of the actor to voice one of the characters - the Japanese scientist Yoshimi Tokui, who conducted research using sensory deprivation chambers. Of course, in the game Tokui speaks Japanese in the voice of Hideo Kojima, and the head of marketing at Kojima Productions, Aki Saito, acted as the scientist's translator.
· Inside
A platformer with puzzle elements is considered by many to be an “infantile” genre - perhaps this is due to the games with cartoon characters for the Dendy console. Inside breaks down these stereotypes: Hideo Kojima called it one of the most important games of the decade.
The world of Inside is grey, frightening, disturbing and dangerous. It’s easy to find similarities with the world in which Death Stranding takes place. In addition, like many of Kojima's games, Inside does not give direct answers to questions: there is not a single line of text in the game, and you have to solve Inside's riddles relying only on visual images. What does the ending of the game mean? Who exactly is the main character, the little boy? Inside fans share numerous theories, but none of them have definitive confirmation.
NieR: Automata
Like Death Stranding, NieR Automata isn't afraid to break the rules. Inspired by the Metal Gear games, this fast-paced slasher reimagines both the gameplay and the way the story is told.
At first glance, the plot of the game is quite typical of science fiction: the Earth was attacked by aliens who created a mechanical life form and with its help captured the entire planet. Humanity fled to the Moon and is now trying to reclaim its home planet with the help of combat androids designed specifically for battles with invaders.
But the androids look like miniature girls dressed in the Gothic Lolita style, the game’s plot is full of surprising twists, and the characters continually break the fourth wall, addressing the gamer directly.
· Oxenfree
The setup for Oxenfree is simple. The main characters of the game are a girl named Alex and her friends, who come to relax on a deserted island and find themselves in the center of mystical events.
If it's the mysterious, paranormal atmosphere that draws you to Death Stranding, you'll love Oxenfree. Inspired by classic console games, sci-fi shows, and 80s teen movies, you'll find friendship, a compelling story, a retro aesthetic, holiday adventure, and lots of mystery.
